If it needs shimming - it needs shimming. . . a quick check I like to see is if the saddles, when adjusted all the way to the deck, are putting the strings lying on the frets or very nearly. [/quote] And they were, no shim required cheers! Really useful tip. Took it all back and then started again, now set up as per the setting in the thread above and it's playing really well.
