Hello out there in the bassworld,

has anyone ever tried the D'addario Zyex in the light edition and can describe the sound and feel (pizz and arco) compared the medium tension?
Is it comparable to the differnce between Evah Pirazzi normal and weich?

Thank's for your help!

Hi Flamencito,

The following is a response from Liz Benoit Crew, D'Addario Orchestral Strings Product Specialist:

"I would compare the response and feel of Zyex light tension to be close to the Evah Pirazzi weich set, with a slightly more textured, gut-like sound. When played pizzicato, Zyex as whole has a comfortable, flexible feel with less “roll” or torsional movement than traditional gut strings. It bows nicely, as well. The Zyex light tension set has a bit of quicker response (in both pizzicato and arco) and slightly more flexible feel than our Zyex medium tension set."

Hi Flamencito. Just a heads up to say that I thoroughly recommend my setup (although things work differently for each individual bass): Zyex G with Helicore Hybrids EAD (all medium tension). I find there's a pretty consistent sound and feel across the strings, and they're decent under the bow. I think you'll be pleased with the Zyex :)

Hi Hector,

it's funny you mention this, because in the university where I teach I have the bass strung Zyex (medium) A-G and Helicore Hybrid E, because I found the Zyex E too weak. And this a very good even sounding set up too.
But I'm gonna try the setup you mentioned and report about it (after my vacation).
