Im looking to do a bit of upgrading to one of my Basses and im looking at putting in a J Retro , i also want to change the PuPs but im not sure weather to use active or passive !!! the retro comes with its own power supply so im thinking that the pups should be passive ..... or do i get active and they are run from the battery in the J Retro ... can anyone clarify this.........or does it even matter ..Thanks . chris_b Posted June 26, 2015 Share Posted June 26, 2015 The only active pickups I've heard of are EMG's and I don't know what advantage that brings, so passive pickups for me.
