Cleaning up the dusty end...

What's the fingerboard material? I've used an old toothbrush dipped into soapy water for lacquered and ebonol fingerboards and raw linseed oil wiped on/off with a paper kitchen towel for rosewood boards which cleans and nourishes at the same time.

Take the strings off - if you want to reuse them you can do it carefully. I like to take them out of the bridge for better cleaning but you can leave them in if you choose. Get some cloths or paper towels, a little water, naptha (lighter fluid), or Isopropyl alcohol - depending on the finish type and condition.

Do not marinade. Really dirty pickup covers, bridges, tuners, etc - clean up better when off the instrument IME. Proceed with care, especially if it's important to you.

If you don't want to bother taking the strings off, you can use this (I've got one, and it's all right, if the bass isn't too dirty):

Otherwise, a soft, lint-free cloth sprayed with this: https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_polish_set.htm, plus some elbow grease ;) :D
