skidder652003 Posted July 4, 2015 Share Posted July 4, 2015 (edited) Ive got a few cables that could do with replacing, but ive always fancied repairing them and fitting some with right angled jacks etc.. Ive an old soldering iron in the garage that i've used in the past to fix some stuff but its a bit rubbish TBH. Can anyone recommend a starters kit that includes fixing clamps? Also whats the correct wattage for this sort of work? And finally(!) what's the best solder type and guage for cable repairs? Many thanks!!! Dad3353 Posted July 4, 2015 Share Posted July 4, 2015 For home use, I'd strongly recommend a solder station over a simple crayon iron. The comfort in use and safety (less risk of burning the worktop or worse...) are worth it. More expense initially, but a decent one should last a lifetime; maybe more..!
