It looks lovely and the weight is just perfect. Im still sceptical about the gig volume as its quite a bit smaller than my 1212L, but im sure its going to work out well though. dave_bass5 Posted July 29, 2015 Author Share Posted July 29, 2015 Ill take a selfie at the first gig :-) I use a wireless system and im normally the one to go out front at soundcheck so ill hear it exactly as the audience will. The first gig is a small pub stage an im right in the corner, not a good test for volume but it will show how well controlled the low end is. I normally have low end issues at this venue (and i always use a Gramma pad) so i cant wait to hear the real low end coming though. Its the larger gigs im more worried about but in a way im not that worried. i do believe what has been written, i understand the engineering in these cabs make this possible, so i know my doubts will go once i get used to it. Ill have it on a Gramma pad so i guess we cna add a few more inches to that. Its very light, i can already appreciate how easy the get in and outs will be. Although my 1212L is a neo cab its still pretty heavy if i have to carry it too far. The BF will be a pleasure to carry. @Alex, I'm just wondering how this will work on its side (so port facing down) whilst on a Gramma pad. Any drawbacks to this? [/quote] It's not a port in the conventional sense and has been designed to work horizontally or vertically I believe it's really designed to work horizontally as a first choice but vertically is fine / there's some stuff on the BF website which explains it all better than I could manage Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

And it'll affect the hybrid resonator's port the same as if it was onto the floor. I'd try it with and without the Gramma - you may find you can leave it at home except on particularly boomy hollow stages. P.S. I have had words about the cleaning of that grill - it should have been properly polished before it left, not just wiped clean (hence the residue). Problem is most of my gigs are on big hollow stages but im guessing this cab wont be as boom as my 1212L so might be more controlled. No problem about the grill, i only noticed it in the shots. For some reason the shots make the cab look worse than it is in the flesh. Ill give it a good wipe down later. dave_bass5 Posted August 1, 2015 Author Share Posted August 1, 2015 Well today was the day I got to plug it in and see what's what. First impressions are very good. I was worried about lack of top end but with a bit of help from my Darkglass I could go from Motown warm to Foxton bite. So far only played it at work with a Jazz bass, but it sounded full and deep no matter where I was in the room. it's certainly got a more traditional sounding tone, it's going to be a nice change from the 1212L's mid hump. I think BF will respond more to tonal changes, and that's something I've been missing since I got the 1212L. It's a great cab but I've always felt it added too much to the tone of whatever was going through it. The only downside I can find, and this is purely a personal thing, is I wish the handle was on the side rather than the top. I find cabs like this so much easier to carry using a side mounted handle. Less bumping in to things as the footprint is smaller. It would also make placing my Markbass F1 flat a lot easier. As it stands it won't sit flat. Not a big deal though, it's not going to fall off.
