I've got the 7 version of this: -

nice and cheap and works a treat - I dont move it anywhere mind - just home static use. Little bit fiddly to put together.

+1 for these (5 version...). We've had 2 of 'em for yonks, and we take 'em out when gigging, too. No issues.

Yup, I have a 5-way and a 3-way of these, and my slide guitarist (who swops between three guitars during gigs) liked it so much that he bought one to use at said gigs.

The only thing to watch is that neoprene isn't the toughest material, and a year or two of thumping 4Kg basses onto it will wear through the padding on the bottom rails, especially the one at the back.

I just wrapped some heavy foam around it and gaffa'd it in place. Sorted.

I have one of these also, and yes the neoprene wore out on mine too. I replaced it with this foam pipe lagging stuff.

Other DIY stores are available. :D

Jack, I have an Ashton GS55 heavy duty 5 guitar rack you can have for nothing more than collection / delivery costs. I have two, both only a couple of months old. The used one is showing some compression in the neoprene, but otherwise is in great shape.

I did try the Chord stand but was sorely disappointed and went with Flightcasewarehouse and their Spider racks.

I did a review and listed my reasons why I preferred the Spider over the Chord.

I'm using 6 Spider racks just now and have no fear of them falling apart.

Nice recommendations, thanks all. I'm surprised and pleased that they aren't all £££
Mr Ghost, I have some on the wall and they hang there like the works of art that they are. But some still lean against walls.
I'm trying to reduce my collection down to 4 or 5 (3 are in the basses for sale section), but it's hard letting them go.

I'll send you a PM bobthedog.

Cheers

Jack

I have a couple of 5-instrument stands similar to the ones above (two parallel bars at the bottom, stubby bars at the top for the necks). You have to get the angle just right when putting asymmetrical basses like Thumbs and Jazzes on them, otherwise they don't sit on both of the bottom bars and swivel round.

[/quote]Good point :)
When I got my Chord stand I only had Precisions & set the stand up to suit them - they were & still are fine. Since then I have some Jazzes & yes they don't sit comfortably on the rails at all. So now the Chord stand holds just 5 P basses & the Jazzes are on separate stands.

Now that must be the best reason EVER to give the other half when buying a new bass; "yes darling, I know I have four others just like this one but, as you can see, I have an empty slot on my precision rack" :)

It looks to me that what you really need is to get a bigger house with more wall space ;)
