This one has been my main P for the last four years. A 1966 Fender Pbass which pretty nails that thumpy and thicky sound many of us are after.

Everything's original except :

body refin, which is a nice one, professionnaly done and reproducing the original sunburst, neck-heel is untouched. There you got a link : http://www.mancheste...burst-refinish/

Medium-jumbo refret, nicely done too. The dark brazilian fingerboard remains thick enough for another refret in the next years/decades.

The back of the neck was re-sprayed (nitro) in the 80s. The layer went away at some point with a nice worn in feel ;

Pots and capacitor were changed in the 80s too. The cap is great, progressive and with a wide range of tones.
The bass is not heavy, 4 kg / 8 lbs and 13 ozes.The overall condition is great. There are some crazes on the body, a nicely (naturally) aged headstock, and a celluloid pickguard broken on two points, the broken parts being fixed by the pickguard screws. Neck's straight whether strung with lights flats or 45-105 rounds. It's a rigid neck, the trussrod has not much effort to do, plenty of life left, and provides a nice low-action if needed. Tuning pegs are solid and smooth, better than new ones i guess. The original black-bobbin pickup works perfectly, with a strong output and these lows you expect to find on a vintage P.

I was (and still am) blown away by the tone of this bass. Huge low-mids and lows, perfect balance, and instant Motown vibes with flats. She sounds great with rounds too. The one-piece (i guess) alder body is pretty resonant, you can literally « feel » the note ringing from the frets to the body. I can provide some band situation soundclips, one being recorded with round, the other with flats (Thomastik JF344).

Currently strung with Rotosound rounds, she comes with original cover and ashtray. As for the case, got a vintage Fernandes case to come with, or a gig bag which would ease the pain on delivery fees. I got everything to make the parcel strong.

I live in Paris, France. I didn't create a feedback topic (definitely should), but made a few recent deals here with dand666, Minski, Dee-bass, mrbassman_de, BMBR, either buying or selling (and shipping).

I'll post soon some of the usual stuff concerning stamps, electronics and so on. Neck's stamped, neck-heel too, solder joints untouched.

2200 GBP, delivery fees (something like 80 pounds i guess) at buyer's expense.

Neck stamp from May 66, the classic and comfy C shape. Curved fingerboard remains thick enough to enable another refret.

I'm pretty bad at pot dating. If anybody knows how to date this one, it'd be of great help !

Freshly fed fingerboard. Frets are in pretty good shape.

Thanks Leroy and Jebo1, the refin is nice on pics but deeper and nicer when you got this bass in your hands. If you're curious about what she sounds like, drop me your email, i got a Stevie Wonder cover to send to you. This was recorded direct, strung with rounds, by its previous owner - the reason why i don't post it there. Pretty nice cover, you got there that thicky sound i'm talking about.

@ Steo42: No trades i'm afraid.
