Wow, I'm a lucky sod!
I took delivery of another ACG bass today.
A Salace E Type 6 String Headless Shortscale - that's a mouthful!
Designed to be lightweight and superbly ergonomic without going down the weird shaped ergo guitar route.

Not got much time just now, but here's the brief spec...

6 String tuned B to C
31.5" Scale
Koa Top
Spruce Core
Mahogany Back
3 piece Ash Neck
Cocobolo Fingerboard
ETS Bridge Unit with 16.5mm spacing
ACG Custom Headpiece
ACH FB Pickups
East Uni-Pre preamp

So far I don't think I could be more impressed!

Have a look...

QUICK UPDATE!

Here's some rough sound samples I've uploaded to Soundcloud.

The bass is still amazing, by the way :)

Nice!
Intrigued to hear how that short scale works with a 6 string. Detailed review please :)
Well with excellent design and construction, strung with custom wound strings with heavier cores the string tension is pretty much the same as it is on my 33" basses.
A more detailed review, as requested, will come in time, along with some sound samples, just a quick note though, it sounds like a rhinoceros sized modern jazz bass off the bat, enormous, crispy and punchy :)

The low B on this bass is silly considering the scale length?!

The string gauges are 130 110 90 70 50 36
I think the higher 5 strings could be a shade lighter, maybe 130 105 85 65 45 30
They're custom wound by Netwtone strings for the shorter scale.

Weight wise, it's sub 9 lbs, so VERY light for a 6 string, even with the weight ETS hardware on it.

Never liked Single Cuts. Never liked 6 String basses.

I think I do now. That's incredible :)

I used to be the same but Alan makes some of the prettiest single cuts on the market. Just seems to get all the proportions right. This is one of the best he has done.

First I'm going to need some new trousers, as I've gotten all overexcited. Second, I'm going to need a couple of grand to order one of my own!

Thanks mate, it's worth every penny and more!

Thanks mate, I had a hand in the design ;)
We did a headed version of the body style too which I think would work equally well. It's a very ergonomic design, so it balances beautify on the lap, and on a strap.

Sounds really nice! Will this be at Moffat next year? I may fancy a shot...never played a headless short scale!
Will try my best mate, I'll almost certainly be there and if I am, all my ACGs will come with.
I don't think there's many short scale 6 string headlesses out there, so this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity! ;)

Shame for Dave Swift. No one will be watching him. We'll all be standing open mouthed, ogling this bass. :)

Perhaps we can put it in Dave's hands to redress the balance.
To be fair though, with it being such a compact bass and Dave being the opposite, it'll probably look like a mandolin on him!
