Fender fidelitron

I think it's the same humbucker at the bridge as at the neck. 71mm x 35mm. I don't think they are sold in pairs i.e neck and bridge and I've not taken mine out to test the resistance to see if they're the same.

It's a different sound to a 51 single coil, less bright but a good solid thud to it. Quite vintage. I wouldn't says it's any meatier than the SD single coil from memory (I used to have one in a 51p reissue but sold it recently)

I don't know exactly how they might sound but if I was going to put a Fender Fidelitron pickup in a bass I would first consider the possibility of using a TV Jones Thundertron pickup on which the Fidelitron is based.

I have a Shuker Bass with 3 pickups , a P/J with a 51 up at the neck . The 51 is up close to the truss rod cavity , so pretty much where the fidelitron is in the Coronado . Ive had a look at the TV Jones , the resistances are 4.8k-bridge and 4.0k for the neck .

I want something to fit in the position (almost ) of a Gibson mud bucker , but smaller in size , if possible something close to the power or sound …..I'm not techie at all , does whatever K equate to power/volume ?

'k', in this context, is part of k ohm, or kilo ohm, a measure of electrical resistance. A pick-up (p/u...) has copper windings, the resistance of which is measured in ohm. The higher the reading, in general, the more windings there are, and between p/us of the same type, the higher the output (volume..? hotness..?). Typically, a neck p/u will be wound 'hotter' to compensate for the lower output due to being nearer the bridge (less string movement to be captured...). The reading is only indicative, as p/u makers use differing wire thickness and winding techniques, so comparison is not exact. Additionally, there are many other factors affecting volume, such as magnet type/strength, p/u construction, single/twin coil and more.
