Hey guys, I've asked this before but I'm still looking for this bass.
The picture attached is a left handed version that was ordered by a music shop owner in Canterbury, in the late 80s.
Big Mart (my boss) is left handed but Jackson managed to build his custom order RIGHT handed.
This ended up for sale in Brixton Exchange Mart.

Sadly, Big Mart passed away recently and this photo was taken at a memorial gig that we did last week.
I'm now playing the bass in this band (I was the singer but now I'm doing both)

I would dearly love to find the right handed version that was made by mistake.

Has anybody seen it

I dont know where the ones you mention but I remember one in a Hughes And Kettner ad back in 1990. Its a crappy pic but if you look in the centre, you can see the Star Wars graphic on that right hand Concert bass....JHS's address is on the bottom and lets say the ad was shot in the U.K. it could have been the one you are on about ?? Who knows ??

Some people will try and sell anything !!!! All the best !!

Yes Wayne, that's the bass. It was eventually sold through Brixton Exchange Mart but I still haven't found it.

were you local then Pete?

Yes, I grew up in Canterbury and attended that hotbed of teenage angst and prog rock the Simon Langton school, a couple of years after the Caravan/Hatfield/Soft Machine crowd. Besides Martins shop I remember Reggie Forwoods a few doors down, Kennards in Northgate and Socodi Music in the Friars. Happy days.

yep, Martin went to Simon Langton.
I bought my first bass from Steve at Kennards!! 1981.

Socodi now sadly gone, but members of caravan are still knocking about and still playing, I worked for Martin when the shop moved to the precinct next to the Marlowe restaurant

yep it turned up but the current owner doesn't want to let it go. Only for serious money. I'm not sure if older Jacksons can command serious money but I couldn't really justify it.

Shame really, as I wanted to buy it when it was at BEM but I just couldn't afford it

Sad to hear about Martin.

I met him a while back at The Six Bells in Woodchurch where we we're playing. Actually came across to introduce himself between sets, and had a bit of a chat as our singer knew him a little as well.

He was ill, but in incredible spirit - in fact, we remarked afterwards how strong he was, compared to how we would be given such a diagnosis. A sad loss indeed.

he only said serious money. He doesn't use it because he's a fiver man now. I asked for an idea of money but he just said serious money so I decided not to go there.
I've got enough gear and it would have made an interesting story for a magazine and to get both the l/h and r/h reunited but, to be honest, I have found it and it was great to find it.
Without the internet it would have been impossible. It's not the first bass I've found using basschat either

There's no reason they shouldn't be reunited for an article in a magazine anyway isn't there?
