You can maybe understand why. I mean there's only a certain number of times you can see a thread entitled 'what flats are best ?', or something, without screaming 'use the search function !".

You do occasionally get some interesting threads in the section, this is the main one that I look at.

I sometimes wonder why I still come on here as I don't really play bass anymore, but then I remember the vast wealth of bass related knowledge & experience I have accumulated over the years & it seems such a shame to deny people of it......

What's the best bass for metal then?

Yes....... I can see me not bothering to participate as many of the same subjects keep repeating especially the volatile subjects with no progression. When I joined I'd recently taken up playing bass after playing guitar for years and because I only had experience of one brand of bass, I wanted to find out more about the business of bass and widen my knowledge about other brands of bass.

After a while I realised I wasn't finding much for me here and and started participating and reading less and less. Recently I have been reading more again, the humour and banter is good but I can't see it being something I will stick with for an extended period of time.

As a confirmed bassaholic, I think I'll always be here to peer at the porn threads and feed my GAS with the for sale section. Yeah, I get tired of some of the trolls (subject to your definition of trolling of course), but judicious use of the ignore post setting is always available (although sometimes reading a BC 'car crash' is entertaining in its own way; sometimes).

I very rarely post but pop on here quite a bit.
Quite often I'll write a reply to something and then delete it before posting!
I was a member on bassworld and posted quite a bit on there. then one day I wasn't online for a litte while .
in that little while basschat was created and bassworld was long gone. .

I have been a member since 2009 but hardly ever log in. I visit daily. I probably should contribute more since I have been playing for 25 years, have studied music and taught so could probably come up with a sensible suggestions sometimes. But I end up not doing anything about it. I have loved playing bass for all those years and will probably never leave basschat. One of the most friendly forums on the internet I have seen.

I've found forum vibes generally change as time goes on with members leaving & new people joining so I often go through waves of posting too. Often forums become a victim of their own success & end up attracting the kind of tedious, needlessly argumentative people I really can't be bothered to deal with, but they generally get bored and move on eventually too.

There are a couple of forums I've been active on & can never see myself going back to & others that I still look at but rarely post. Basschat is my current most active forum but I imagine at some point in my lifetime something else will start competing for my procrastination time.

"You can check out anytime you like but you can never leave"

I like it here and whilst I continue to play bass I shall not be moved....when I become a keyboard player I will never talk to any of you again and will hang out with proper musicians on "I'm a prima donna without a volume control chat" You have been warned :yarr:

We are all but chaff in the wind. The Pharaohs thought to have bought into immortality with their pyramids, most of which were pillaged by their successors. The fleeting 15 minutes afforded by Mr. Warhol have become less than 15 seconds, and reducing as I type. All is vanity, and in vain. The whole of mankind's existence is but a blink compared to the reign of the dinosaurs. They, too, probably thought they'd be around for a while. Make the most of your time here, whilst you're able; the clock is ticking down the seconds, there's less left than you think.

...

... and now even less.

...

Tick - tock - tick - tock ...

I get 'disappointed' with posts too and I'm quite sure certain members get 'disappointed' with mine. However I just block 'em and carry on regardless. :D

I was wondering why I hadn't heard from you for a while, not that you'll see this!
