I chose the Ehrlund because after lots of listening to samples at TalkBass, I concluded this was the most neutral of the contact pickups. And it's just brilliant. The preamp is specifically tailored to the pickup. Very clear and clean, with lots of dynamics. One caveat is that it's also quite sensitive. Unlike my now-defunct Barcus Berry, this will pick up bad technique. I had the lead professionally modded with a female jack and cut to 10" so it's more useful for gigging.
