Fender Performer

I nearly bought one a couple of years ago - the seller indicated that they were extremely rare - I'd never seen one in the UK before - within the week 2 more appeared on eBay at lower prices - needless to say I didn't follow through on the purchase. I'd still be interested on giving one a go...

This is like mine,

It's in a case in the loft and having had a stroke it's a bit hard to climb up and take a pic so this is just like mine.
It's lovely to play, that neck is so easy.
Can't find any for sale, they only made a few hundred in around 1986.

Just seen this on Reverb.

Not just a refin, but non-original pups and controls, althpugh the rest looks right.

Ouch, that hurts to look at! And that price is insane for a ruined classic.

I would want a pic of the hack job underneath the pickguard, and a more detailed pic of those two black dots / holes next to the skunkstripe at the heel. What is going on there?

No way it's worth that with all those modifications.  Delusional!  It's a basket case at this point in dire need of restoration, but good luck finding those pickups!

There's one on Reverb that hasn't been butchered for £500 less.

As a quirky shortlived bit of Fender history I can see a good example being worth £2000 to a collector of such things.

But the refinished PJ monstrosity above is far from a good example. Some would argue, and I'm in that camp, that without the original pickups which are a big part of the original design's aesthetic character, it's barely a Performer at all.
