I really like that... When you get going into that groove after the initial flurry it really bounces. Great feel to it and jolly too... Everyone tends to go for moody and melancholic, but that's outright cheerful :) great technique catching and muting the little phrases as well.

That's a proper widdle that is... Truly in the spirit of things.

I quite like the idea, next month of not preparing anything and just pressing play for a minute and seeing what comes out...
Hehe. I actually intended on recording an actual bass line (the one that started out for this month's other musical comp, which ended up a synth bass & played a good bit slower), but when I hit record, I ended up messing about. :)

Thanks very much! It doesn't sound as tight as it did in my head, so I'm relieved you felt the flow!
Upbeat and in major key, it's bound to sound happy - I should have smiled a bit :)

I should get a chance to feedback on 5he other noodles this weekend 👍

Like the little repeating melody on that... It's like a mini jazz tune, doing the melody then a little noodle then back to the melody again, full tune in a minute :) sounds damn growly as well... Great tone.

Cheers!
That's the beauty of Wal... I felt that the £300 for a service and set-up was well-spent!!

Looks like it’s me up first again!

Here’s this month’s noodle:

https://soundcloud.com/agwin/fretless-tune-march-noodle

Played on my defretted Hohner Precision copy strung with dead rounds.
Straight into Audacity then “normalised” (what ever that is – just seemed to make it louder) and a bit of phaser added.
It just sort of formed it’s self out of thin air after watching a few minutes of Scott Devine expounding on arpeggios.

I was subsequently inspired to fire up my Sibelius software and have a bit of a compose.
I seem to have ended up with a potential ITV Murder Mystery theme.
I’d be chuffed to bits if you could find the time to also give this a listen– It’s not very long about 01:20 in total.

Nice. I could hear this on the Twin Peaks series - kind of suspenseful yet playful at the same time.

Ok here is mine. As the first recorded in the quickest way possible iPad infront of the cab and one quick take well actually this is the second take the first I ballsed up.

I call it the Native American lol.

Cool. It has a nice Talking Heads vibe - a good steady bass line that would make a good song foundation

Thanks I like a bit of talking heads.

I'm going to have a listen to the rest of the noodles in bed tonight.

I thought I'd give this a quick bash - its just a random bass harmonics thingy but its the thought that counts, I suppose! :)

Like this and paubass's entry too (very alike but good) both as someone said are very portrait of Tracy.

I have barely played bass since November. Due to upheaval from Christmas and then me deciding to "renovate" my music room, my gear was all packed away and only cracked out again a couple of weeks ago.

I played this and thought it was cute. I only recorded it so I would remember it, but I saw this thread and thought bugger it, I'll stick it up! It's the first thing I have recorded in four years (and that had been the first thing in ten).

I played it on my Cort T-35 (all my other basses are still packed away) through my Behringer V-Amp into Audacity.

If I had been thinking of this thread when I recorded it I may have made it a little longer than 21 seconds...

Good stuff and welcome to the noodle comp... :)

I think that would be great as the basis for some other loops on top. Could get a little baseline going and melody too.

It sounds a bit like a film intro where they do that first sweeping scene of wherever it is set.

No worries about the length... As my driving instructor used to say "it's a limit not a target"

Good work folks! I had to listen to them over the weekend, together with the Composition Challenge entries so far.

Hoping to get a noodle in myself. It's probably going to be something funky again - because I'm still working my way through a 'teach yourself funk' learning book! :D (and probably will be for some time). I then have a book on walking basslines to work through... so you'll be hearing those from me for the rest of the year. Something to look forward to, eh?

I gone and done a noodle! Actually, I did lots of noodles from my P V directly into a Zoom H4n. Lots of level tweaks and getting sounding nice. Then I deleted them all because they are so bad it's embarrassing, no flair or compositional beauty.

Rightho chaps, just about made the deadline this month...

I've had a piece in mind to record for this months noodle comp and intended on waiting for my new P bass to record it, but when the new P arrived and I plugged it in this came out instead... I think it sums up the joy I feel when playing this new instrument and my renewed appreciation for the P bass in general :)

Moollon P Classic straight into a Boss Br-80.

Very nice Rob. Puts me in mind of 60s soundtrack type vibe. Nice playing too!

Right-o. If you can do it so can I so I dusted off the metronome, got a fresh new pick and here it is.

This time it's more rounded than the first effort. As I can't do up and down the fingerboard scale type runs like everyone else here are a couple of riffs for a song in progress. It still sounds like it was composed by 15 year old me but I guess that's my style!

Am Std. P-Bass V into a Zoom H4n. No processing or other manipulation.

It's OK mine was only 47 seconds because I got over excited and played it too fast, you can have 3 of my left over 13 seconds...

Sounds like bouncy skate punk to me... Missed your calling in the 90s with riffs like that, you'd have had kerrang Tv on the phone...

Nice groove though and you didn't even need the additional 3 seconds really as they are silent... Unless that's a deliberate dramatic pause, in which case I apologise.
