duckman Posted August 8, 2016 Share Posted August 8, 2016 Always loved Curlees. The Curbeck was their De-Luxe flagship bass (together with the rare Summit). The 'standard 1' was the more popular S D Curlee bass in the seventies, but I always found the walnut/maple stripe body visually more striking/appealing. Very popular in Germany and Belgium in the mid to late seventies. Although the 32 1/2 inch neck is bolted onto the body it is technically also a neck trough, since the bridge is mounted in the neck. Rather unique, I would say. Birdsong revived the brand a while ago and is producing updates of these "poor man's Alembics. (The ashtray on this bass BTW is not original.) Henrythe8 Posted August 24, 2016 Share Posted August 24, 2016 (edited) No, you're not imagining things. There is no "fingerboard" per se, the neck is the fingerboard. The trussrod has been installed via the skunkline in the back of the neck.
