If Jason spent the day with it with the owner, guessing that means one of two things:

1) A CS limited run of '59 Protos
2) The owner wants a replica to gig.

Very cool though!

Imagine having the kind of money to be able to walk in and just say 'I want a replica'. That is when things are great in life!

I imagine that owning that bass, the owner probably has quite a close relationship with Fender. A master built is probably 4-5k?, I imagine he might get a slight concession simply because they get to work on such a piece of history, gets their customers excited etc. Basically just Fodera money + the history involved.
But who knows :)

It probably stayed as a prototype for a reason.

Could of just gone in for a service? Someone who owns a bass like this and probably doesn't play it much (looking at the condition) probably wants it to have a full Fender "service history". That's my guess anyway :P

Wonder what it sounds like though, those fat pups look interesting!
