They sound great, plenty for on-stage monitoring, and probably for regular pub gigs too, unless you`re a very loud rock band. I`ve used them as provided rigs in an 8 piece punky/indie band and was fine for that

I think it depends on the band and how sensible they are with their overall sound. I use an Aguilar Tonehammer 500, in a punk band so not exactly quiet, and I`ve read of people saying the TH500 needs more headroom. I think my ears would fall off if I pushed it to max. Sure the BA220 won`t handle a very large stage on its own, but for regular pub gigs it should be fine. It really is one of those things though, you only find out if a bit of kit really works for you when the band is playing.

I prefer the PF setup to a combo like this.

I wasn't a fan of the EQ stage of a BA type combo (forget the exact model) and when Ampeg try to get cute in that respect, they come up short, IMO.

You should check it out but for me Ampeg struggle a lot against the competition.. or rather they aren't recognisable Ampeg at this pricepoint.
But then again, I'm not a fan of the SVT 3 either,

I'd far rather a tonehammer (by a considerable margin) but you are talking different money.
