FWIW I have ordered covers for my Eden 4x10 & 1x15 from a firm near Leeds called Roqsolid
I negotiated a cash deal. I'm picking them up myself on Thursday. Once I've put them on I'll post my opinions.

Haven't a clue what's happened, never been able to track him down....It's a mystery (said witha lisp, like Toyah) ;)

 • 1 year later...

i've had so many problems with Silverstone amp covers that when I eventually get this issue solved I will never use them again.

my first order of a combo cover a year or so back had a reasonable delay of a couple of weeks, and the cover was incorrect so it had to be remade. not too bad service, but not the quoted 2 days time to make the cover as stated on the website.

this time, I ordered a head and 4x12 cover. I sent the measurements off and asked Shaun to confirm that he could make this. and aparently it was the same measurements as an existing cab he had listed, so I just bought that. I also confirmed with him before ordering that he could despatch my covers within 1 week as I needed them fast. No problem he said.

Tn the end it took 2 weeks to get them not 1, and then the 4x12 cab was wrong. I informed Shaun of this and he said he would make me a new one if I send the old 4x12 cover back. no problem I said, so Shaun arranged Parcelforce to collect it. This collection didn't happen until I chased him several times, and it was eventually collected.

Now jump forward a couple of weeks and I emailed him to check where my replacement cover was... i got no response. So I emailed every day and telephoned and left several messages and eventually after another week he sent me a very brief email asking if I had ever sent the wrong cover back to him??!!! And he was the one who arranged the collection. so I of course said that it was colelcted 3 weeks previous and then I got this response:

---------------
Hello

Weird I cannot find the cover but it states it has been delivered.
The replacement cover is made and I will drive up to the Parcelforce depot.

Regards
Shaun (Silverstone)
------------------

So he didn't even say sorry for forgetting about me, or for suggesting that I'd not sent it back.

THEN then next day instead of my new cover arriving, parcelforce turn up to collect the old cover again. then they do the same the next day even though I told them to cancel the collection.

I emailed Shaun with all the details of the actual collection with photos taken from my company's CCTV to prove that Parcelforce collected it 3 weeks prior to that.

now it's 2 days later, I've had no response to me telling Shaun that Parcelforce haven't delivered my cover and they are also trying to collect the old one.

So at the moment it's 5 weeks since I ordered and paid my money, and now he wont return emails or calls again, and I'm really annoyed.

The covers are really well made and all that, but should I ahve to constantly keep chasing him, when he's the one who owes me a cover (as he has the money). This just isn't any kind of customer service at all, and I really can't advise anyone else strongly enough to never use Silverstone amp covers, unless they either don't want their cover for months, or they don't mind never getting the cover they paid for.

Cheers

Rowbi

I have a pair of covers from these chaps...

http://www.pianocoversonline.co.uk/

Not the cheapest out there, but the service is good and the covers are bomb proof!!! They also have many cab and amp model dimensions preset on the website so if you r lucky that they have done one before you don't need to measure up.

They make custom amp bags for lightweight amps as well. Used to have one for a MarkBass head, was a well spent £40 compared to the MarkBass branded one at £90

That's where I got the V-type combo cover made - they're actually part of Roqsolid as well

I'm sorry to hear of the experience of the other members of the forum, however I felt I might try and re-dress the balance a bit.

I recently purchased an amp cover from Silverstone, and like many above struggled to call SAC to speak to someone about my cover which hadn't initially been delivered according to the website claim of 1-2 days. However once I'd got in touch using the feedback form on the website I found the service and communication to be excellent.

My cover arrived very shortly after my query was received and I am thrilled with it. This is my third cover from SAC and they each do a great job.

Apologies for the rubbish phone picture
Is that black and yellow? That looks more like blue and white. In fact, that's the same colours as the first version of my amp cover (the one that was two inches too short). Same cover, maybe?

S.P.

This thread just lost em a customer. I was after covers for my barefaced and liked the look of these much more than roqsolid but after reading this I just called roqsolid and ordered two covers, and later, when funds allow, I'll order a midget bag too. Just goes to show I guess.
Yea, I don't wanna add to any bad press, as I'm sure it's an isolated incident.. but after a few emails I sent that were requested to confirm the dimensions of my cab, so I could pay for the quote... the trail seems to have gone a bit quiet.

I'm gonna have a google see who else makes covers... Maybe I'll have to fork out for the rather expensive Epifani ones afer all!
Guys, I dont have an axe to grind but even after the first debacle I had with these guys, I still went back for another as, once you get past the ordering and delivery problems, the quality is good.

Second case experience not much better. Submitted the order, then entered into email with Shaun and agreed (at his suggestion) an alternative style. Case arrived late as I kind of expected and guess what?, was made in the original style!! Contacted him and eventually he says had lost emails. Would I like another remaking? yes please I said. This was the last I heard and was months ago.......If it ever turns up, it can be a cover for the kids rabbit hutch !

I will never use them again. The guy seems nice but business practices clearly need some work.

It's not as if there are no alternative suppliers eh?

I can't recommend Phil at Hot Covers highly enough.

I needed a cover for my Phil Jones 6B cab. He sent me a sample of the material he uses (terrific stuff) and then had me supply the dimensions to an accurate diagram of the cab he'd produced as he hadn't made a cover for this cab before. The cover arrived soon after and was really made, but as it was a bit loose Phil asked for pictures to see where the problems were, and he adjusted it for free. It's now perfect, and he even asked for more pictures to confirm it was a good fit!

Excellent quality and highly recommended.

Cheers

Gareth

Refloating this thread to talk about my experience:
I have been a good customer of Shaun and Silverstone amp cover since 5 years ago, buying at least 8 or 10 covers in that time. Absolutely brilliant work and nice chap even the delays in receiving the goods always were high.
But now there's something wrong with him and I had to put a complaint at Paypal so I don't have any single reply about my last order paid almost three months ago and never received.
Something strange happens here so he neither reply to Paypal. :)

I must be a masochist but have ordered another for my Orange SP212. I truly hope the transaction is OK as the quality of the goods is so good. I personally prefer them to the others I have seen.
Shaun has been good with emails so far, quickly quoted for the cover after my enquiry, its running late now though, ordered and paid on 26 April. Chased earlier this week and got email back saying it's made, soz for delay and will be here by the end of the week.

Breath held.........fingers crossed........will let you know...... :)
I guess no news about your cover, isn't it? :)

I have my money back thanks to Paypal. Lesson learned and last time I deal with that guy again.
Shaun EMails a week ago, guess what - he cant find the payment. I sent him paypal proof then no replies to my daily emails.

I have filed a claim with Paypal

I wish his covers were rubbish as he doesnt deserve to keep in business with his appalling trading record. All 3 of the orders I have placd with him have been disasterous but the quality of the covers is great.

Here we go again.....

Maybe link him to this thread? If you Google "Silverstone Amp Covers" there's 4 complaint threads from different sites on the first page, including this one.
I'm not sure how this guy is still in business, no way i'd ever buy anything from him no matter how nice his covers are.

Btw there's also this company that makes cabinet covers, never used them but there's an eBay shop and a really bad website. Seems good quality and if he rips you off i can go and shout at him as it's just down the road from me! It's based in Fleetwood, Lancashire.

I'm thinking of getting a quote for my EA cab (i want a cover with a velcro top and shoulder strap), if i go ahead with it i'll post my experiences here.
