Welcome to the Basschat Noodle Bar™! [OCTOBER]

The rules are simple:

Record yourself playing bass for up to 60 seconds. You can record whatever the heck you like: an original riff or lick; something from your band’s own repertoire; or a well-known piece you’re currently practicing. Doesn’t matter what. Just record something.

Make sure it’s bass only: no other instruments. FX and pedals are allowed, as are simple click tracks and metronomes.

Upload your recording to SoundCloud, YouTube or another music-sharing platform of your choice. Once you’re finished, post the link to your recording in this thread. Job done!
Or in short: PRESS RECORD > PLAY BASS > PRESS STOP!

The deadline for entries is midnight on Monday 31st October.

Ooh, i'm first!! Ok, i had this thing in my head, an alternate universe where Surf music had bass as the lead instrument. And i did this:

Well here is my noodle, think I've ripped of a nirvana line and a black Sabbath one lol. I recorded it first on an Epiphone tbird Classic but it sounds terrible when recorded, it mainly picked up the string noise and very scooped, I have a poorly speaker which made it worse. So recorded it with the Jim fleeting custom with chromes on and it sounded much better, less string noise but also its nordstrand big singles are not as powerful as the Gibson tb+ pickups in the Epiphone.
Going to ask Santa for better recording equipment than the iPad which tbh does a crap job and loves to record string noise and higher frequencies rather than bass lol.

Here is the tbird version for comparison. But it's the above I'm entering not this one https://soundcloud.com/user-531446910/october-noodle-tbird

I started trying to do an entry for the Comp Chall, but this: https://soundcloud.c...8525/oct-noodle
and some drums is all I've got down so far :(, so at the moment, it's just a noodle...

Excellent noodle. I even went over to the composition thread to have a listen to your main composition. Which I really liked also. Was interesting listening to the isolated bass (noodle first) then how it sounded in the mix.
Great Halloween inspiration.

Do you ever get an idea for piece of music that sounds great in your head but wouldn’t it be nice if you could actually play it?

That’s this months noodle.

I thought it up at the start of the month but it’s taken a couple of weeks to get my fingers round it.

It’s not a perfect performance of it, but it’s close – and I’m running out of time.

Cort Curbow 4:1 Generic rounds (cheap from Amazon) all strings detuned a semitone from standard.

Into Audacity then compressed and normalized.

Enjoy (or not)

Here's an entry for this month.
Recorded with a Samsung Galaxy voice recorder app, placed next the my Fender Rumble 15

The quality for a phone recording in front of a rumble 15 is good. Had a nice rounded tone.
