For me, that double-neck is only one 'beauty' in that kind of world.

I have this:

Which is a Gordy Blueshift Custom, from 1985, bit more info here.

The band I was in at the time is on indefinite hiatus, so in a sense it's surplus to requirements now (if it was ever needed, really!) - but the fretless neck's the nicest I've played, and the bass is a genuine one-off.

Or should that be "two-off"?

Have you ever considered building a body to take either neck to give a fretted or fretless neck?

No - I think it would be a shame to cannibalise a unique instrument like this - besides the fretless half's perfectly easy to play - all the time you're sitting down!

I've never seen a twin neck that I've liked the look of. The headstocks always look like they're just two separate necks bolted onto a body rather than been designed as a pair with some sort of symmetry. Maybe somebody should make a L/R necked twin neck.

Headless would be even better. Oh, look:

although I prefer parallel necks (which they do too). And they're composite so they keep the weight below 6kg.

Not that 6Kg is actually "light", you understand.

As for myself, I found my double-neck disappeared quite quickly when I went on a diet ...

I see a couple of nice examples posted in the Shergold thread. Now those were double necks... Best of all, one of these modular monsters: http://www.shergold.co.uk/beat77.html

Those were two guitars which bolted together.
