9 basses

Ampeg SVT4 Pro (currently not working ?)
GK1001RBii
GK MB200
TE 150SM
Markbass 121 combo

Markbass 12" ext cab
Bergantino HT322 cab
TE 2x10" cab

My gigging rig is currently the Markbass for convenience and sound.
The GK1001RBii and Berg cab are quite something for bigger venues.
The Ampeg was great when it worked but even bridged it never really seemed to have as much power as claimed and the 500W Markbass seems far louder. The Ampeg does have a great tonal range tho.

TE rig is kept at rehearsal studio only. Not an amp i'm overly keen on but its ok for a rehearsal.

One amp and a pair of cabs.

Epifani Piccolo and 2x Barefaced One10s. Does everything I need at the volume I need with a total weight of 16kg so I can actually get it to the gig...

If I had a van / someone to carry my stuff, I'd also have a full fat Glock rig.... but i don't... so i don't...

Amps:
TC RH750
Genz Steamliner 900
Genz Shuttlemax 9.2

Cabs:
Genz NX2 212T
Aguilar DB212
TC RS210 x 2

All fantastic. Out of everything I owned, tried, gigged, these are my ideal setups. 2x10 for small gigs, if I want a tall 4x10, then the 2 RS cabs. Genz 2x12 for lightweight one cab solution, Aguilar DB 212 because it sounds bloomin' beautiful.

Plenty of basses and pedals.

These amps reside in the studio:
Ampeg SVT (1970) + SVT cab
Ampeg B15
Hiwatt Custom 100 (DR103 1976)
Fender Bassman 135 + Bassman 4x12" cab
+ several Boogie, Marshall, Kitty Hawk, JBL and some other strange cabs

That´s for gigs:
Trace Elliot SMX600
selfmade preamp + KMT poweramp

3 amps (after a recent bout of trimming):

GK MB Fusion 500 - a pretty recent purchase that I still haven't used in anger

Trace Elliot AH250 GP12SMX - great head that I usually find myself running back to every time I stray

Trace Elliot Series 6 1215 combo - weighty but compact, great tone, very loud and built to last. I'm just a sucker for old Trace gear!

1 cab:

Barefaced Super 12 Silver Cloth - lightweight 2x12, compact and 4 ohms so sucks everything very efficiently from my amps. I'm looking to try a Super Twin as they must be pretty special to top the Super 12

And 6 basses at the moment (1 out on loan and 1 currently up for sale 😉)

3 basses, about to go down to two I think. I think I've I've owned all of 8 over 45 years, rarely more than two at any given time. The last time I bought one was 13 years ago.

Cabs: a single 112 which handles all my gigs these days. I simply wouldn't take a booking that requires anything more. For practice at home I have a pair of homemade 115 cabs and a variety of top boxes with various mid drivers and tweeters.

Amps: two DIY solid state heads, five or six different preamps (also mostly DIY jobs), and three power amps. I'd happily sell off most of that stuff at this point, as I really am only looking for at most two or three specific tones anyway.

I've always been more keen on the amplification side and relatively indifferent to collecting basses. Same for guitar as well.

  • 1 month later...

Trace Elliot AH 300-12 GP12 - suffers from 50hz humming
Trace Elliot RAH 600 SMX - blows out one of its fuses when switching it off in crossover mode
Mesa Boogie Bass Prodigy
Tech21 VTbass 500
Phil Jones Bass Cub
Roland Bass Cube RX

Both Trace heads will be thrown in the garbage, repairing them costs too much. Shame.

Ashdown RM800, Ashdown Mag 300 EVOIII which started cutting out at a gig (must get it fixed) Ashdown Mag 4x10. really gassing for another cab be it a 2x10 or a 4x10 but my current rig is more than loud enough for any gig ive done even outdoors. but more speakers is just better right?
And i have a Fender Rumble 15 combo which is useful for home er use.
