So, two years ago today I started the following thread after Ashdown announced the B Social desktop amplifier at NAMM.

http://basschat.co.uk/topic/254136-ashdown-b-social-really/

It ran to ten pages and involved a lot of comments around price, functionality and quality, a lot of it not terribly pleasant, with which our friends at Ashdown seemed (understandably) not too happy. Since then I’ve felt a bit guilty that the thread has potentially had a negative impact on the success of the amp knowing the influence of Basschat and indeed where the thread features in a simple Google search.

Since then I have played one briefly in a shop and was interested but still couldn’t justify spending the money. I always intended to get hold of one when the opportunity came along at the right price and two years later this has happened.

I’ve now got one and I’ve posted a review in the Review section here as that’s the most appropriate place.

In summary, it really is an excellent piece of kit and I just wanted to put it on the record given it's previous slating. OK, the price thing still remains but if you can get round that (in whatever way) then it is very impressive.

I think it was the price that was the main issue if they were I dunno 200-300 pounds they would of been a easy sell.

I actually played one in a shop briefly the whizzer cone thing had been knocked both had been and it gave some buzzing. I would like to try a properly working one. Intact pmt all the floor bass amps were in poor condition! One way or the other.
