Adjusting active EQ in passive mode still seems affect tone?

Hi guys

I'm a recent and v happy owner of a 2012 Fender USA Precision Deluxe (P/J, active / passive tone controls). I'm loving it, but I noticed that when it is in "passive" mode, changing any of the 3 EQ controls seems to have an effect on the tone. I haven't opened up the bass, but I found this a bit strange. It's not drastic, but I can hear the difference when turning the EQ knobs...

is this normal? is the active EQ, even nominally bypassed, still loading the pickups / circuit somehow? or is this likely a "defect" -either due to Fender's circuit design, or maybe how prior owner wired in the new passive Dimarzio pickups?

Would appreciate any experiences with other active / passive circuits...

many thanks
Roman

Er no idea! In the circuit below (USA active Jazz) the active/passive switch completely bypasses the eq when switched to passive. I'm not sure if this is the same circuit as in your bass, it could be an earlier version.
