Hi all

Just acquired a 1991 MIJ Ibby with a nutral finish, possible oil or wax but not sure. It's in pretty good condition but I'd llike to give the bass a bit of general clean etc. What's the bast way to proceed with body as I can't see anything specific about the original finish?

Thanks in advance. Gratuitous pic:

If it's oil or wax, water will lift the grain. So if this happens you may need to rub it down to flatten the grain and re-oil.

All that said; if it's anything like Warwick coloured basses, it'll be a coloured semi-matt lacquered finish. If that's so, a damp cloth and Fairy is right on the money.

After a closer look at the pic; I'd say that's coloured lacquer.

Congrats on the new bass. May you both be happy together.
