Thanks gents.

It does play really well, the pick ups are sweet.

The keyboard warriors who constantly tell us how awful the Fender output was in the seventies, would have to eat their words if they were to have a play on this one.

I will give it a proper set up and a new set of D'Addarios in the next day or two and then just enjoy.

Nice one Gary. I've found that there are plenty of great 70s Fenders out there that buck the cliched view on them.

Cheers Tim. As you say there are plenty of great ones.
I was playing my old 75 P bass earlier and that is another really, really good one. Light weight, resonant, punchy pups and all very nicely put together.

In my youth I had a 77 Tele (standard). Fit and finish were fine, it was / is probably the best sounding guitar I have ever owned. Sadly long gone - pxd against one of Mr Hall's basses remain unmentionable.

I've been playing a bit more guitar lately, so treated myself to this all original '78.

That's just about exactly the Tele Custom I'd like. Natural finish, Strat-type pot knobs and (probably) the straight italic 'custom' logo.

A Mick Green job, in other words.

For you Sir Skank, the headstock.

I couldn't resist a tele purchase in December. I had a 66 sunburst in the early 80s. Long gone. Now have a 66 in blonde. Even better and very hard to put down.

Pics are required you know.

It's just possible I might have uploaded a picture of my tele. Apologies if I haven't

You have some other lovely vintage stuff too, it would appear.

BTW you need to copy and paste the IMG code for the pic to appear in your post, it's the bottom one of the share options.
