Eden WTX500 RIP...Help needed please!

Hi

My amp died last night at rehearsal...wondering if its fixable or scrap.

So here is what happened.

Amp, cab, zoom b3 and bass all connected and mute switch on before power switched on. Power came from domestic supply,

When I turned on the amp the fan and lights all came on as expected. Somewhere between 30 second to a minute I noticed a burning smell in the room. Yep it was my wtx500. Fan had cut out and no sound. Power light was still on.

Any ideas as to what may be shot and suggestions (within reason and polite please :) ) of what should be my next step/s..

Help would very much be appreciated.

I had both the WTX260 and the WTX500. If I recall correctly, the manual warned very clearly that "releasing the magic smoke" was a bad idea.

In truth, things have moved on a long way from the WTX500. The equivalent offerings from Aguilar, Genz Benz, Gallien Krueger etc. are just ... well ... better.

For what it's likely to cost you to repair, you'd probably do better to visit the Amps For Sale section here and look for a pre-owned Aguilar TH500 (the TH350 is also superb) or a GK MB500.

As it's a Class D amp, the options are limited as to self repair. I would get in touch with Marshall, (who now own Eden), and arrange to send it to them. all my dealings with them have been excellent. If it is still under warranty, then they will sort for free.

Oh and what Jack said although Eden still have that killer tone for me.
