Protecting a Signed Body

Think this is the first time I've ever posted something in this section - Only started looking as I'm going to try my hand at some upgrades etc for my first bass (Jim Deacon P)

Before I do too much to it, the body has been signed* using a silver marker. Wouldn't be an issue but it stretches up on to the forearm contour and has already shown a wee bit of fading.

Any recommendations for what I can use to give it bit of a protective layer? The body is black so I imagine whatever I use will need to be used all over but happy to be told otherwise :)

*Oscar from Ocean Colour Scene for those interested
