Yamaha RBX JM2 anyone got one?

Most of the time I play a Status Energy 6 string but over the last few months, I've noticed I'm having trouble with the string spacing (19mm) I have a few finger joint and wrist problems and it's starting to get harder playing it.

Been looking at the Yamaha JM basses and the Yamaha website states that the JM has a 35" scale and the JM2 has 34" which would suit better. I've never had the opportunity to try one and there's nothing on the Yamaha site that gives the string spacing. Anyone got a JM2 and able to confirm the spacing?

Thanks in advance. Your opinions on the bass generally would also be helpful.

I used to have a JM2. The string spacing is 18mm at the bridge if I remember correctly. It was tighter than the usual TRB spacing (19mm)
I liked the ergonomics of the neck but did not like the overall ergonomics of the bass.
Sounded quite good but that's subjective.

If I was on the market for a tighter spaced 6 string bass with 34" scale i'd rather look at some Ibanez Premium or Prestige Soundgear six string basses. (16.5mm)
Those are what I ended up with after going through many a six string basses.

It's also hugely expensive. Handmade in Japan, like the Adam Nitti bass. I believe it is 14mm string spacing, which is tight!

There is a budget modell called GVB36 which is not that expensive as the Japan-made GVB1006

 • 1 month later...

take a look at this http://www.sputnikmu...p/t-360542.html

It's for the JM1, but I believe the string spacing is 16 or 16.5mm bridge and 7.5mm nut as well. If not this, then must be quite similar.

don't know about the JM2 but the JM1 is the most comfortable (handswise) extended range bass I've ever played (my hands are not too big). I wouldn't mind getting a JM2 too, but they seem to be rare
