Mad idea maybe?

In the same way that a Lakland 55-76 takes the idea of an SR5 and takes a different spin on it, I've been thinking about commissioning a ricky 5 string "tribute"... All the 5 string fakers are 34" and have horribly close string spacing...

So the things that are fixed for me are - maple neck/body, 35" scale, through body stringing option, active. 38mm ish string to string spacing at the nut - 75mm at the bridge..

I don't seem to be able to find a 5 string ricky style bridge, so probably a high mass bridge from one of the normal suspects... Need some advice on pickups, might be nice to have stereo output.

Thoughts?

I'd say go for it. But please remember we are a Rickenbacker free forum after several threats from the Rickenbacker organisation. I have had the displeasure to play an original Ric five string and the the string spacing was so ridiculously tight it went straight back on the wall.

A member on here called Wizbat - not sure if he still posts - had a matching pair of Rick-styled 6ers built by Jon Shuker, maybe 8 or 9 years ago:

Thanks... Not quite the way I want to do it, but the proportions look fine, which was a worry..

Bass Surgery made at least one 6 string Rickenbaker >>

More here - http://www.3dentoura...-string-ric.htm
I have a feeling they're out of business now though...

That's very conventional for a Bass Surgery instrument. And yes they have gone out of business now.
