Welcome to the Basschat Noodle Bar™!

This is a place for sharing your favourite bass playing noodles: those brief moments of brilliance that may otherwise “be lost in time, like tears in rain”...

The rules of the Noodle Bar are simple:

Keep it short: ideally no more than a minute or two. Less is more.

Keep it simple: bass-only tracks are preferred, but accompanying drums and basic instrumentation are also fine and dandy.

Do as thou wilt! Play whatever the heck you like: an original riff or lick; something from your band’s own repertoire; or a well-known piece you’re currently practicing.
Upload your recording to SoundCloud, YouTube or another music-sharing platform of your choice. Once you’re finished, post the link to your recording in this thread. Job done!

Comments are encouraged and critical feedback is very welcome regarding technique, tone, etc… but please keep it friendly and constructive, mindful of the Basschat Terms & Conditions and Forum Guidelines.

Tuck in!

Here we go, to get us all started (or kill it off, stone dead..! ) . This is my contribution, using our Cort 5-string bass. One take, no treatment whatsoever; active mode, almost wide open, played to a 'click' at 60 bpm. I'd forgotten just how bloomin' heavy that 'boat anchor' is..!
Thanks for listening, if you have; if you're about to, enjoy. :-)

Come along now, all of you; don't let a drummer be the only one here..!

Ha indeed...funny thing is I like the out of control bits but free jazz doesn't seem to be anyone else's cup of tea !
Whatever you do, don't get talking to Lenny; it'll start him off again, and it's taken years to get him to where he is now. Most of all, no mention of trombones, please, for all our sakes.

A touch of the Hendrix about this dad... if you played that an octave up on an overdriven strat, you'd have women with flowers in their hair throwing various bit of clothing at you...

Here is mine its a little bit of a groove from a work in progress...
Great stuff... gotta love the groove you've got going on there and the accompanying dance... a few bass faces would have taken it too the next level aesthetically... nothing wrong with your playing though, enjoyed that very much :)

With today being a nice summers day and finding myself a couple of beers to the good, I've written a little tune to celebrate the reopening of the noodle bar :)

In keeping with the spirit of things I didn't bother ironing out the mistakes... which with hindsight perhaps I should have done

As a side note... I appear to have got considerably fatter since my last youtube dalliance...

Anyway I hope the noodle bar flourishes under its new guise :) I think it's a great forum for airing whatever you feel like. Lets see / hear what you're all working on at the moment :)

Was it wise for your drummer to give up the lessons, I wonder..? :P

EDIT: Hilarious..! I've just realised that I had your Noodle and that of CamdenBob playing at the same time, by accident, hence my comment above..! Try it, you'll see my (now moot...) point. Apologies; your Noodle is fine. 'Twas 'interesting', though, with the two together..!   Bring on the funk..!

There are no mistakes in Noodles..! Fine stuff, and a very pleasant tune. A suitably sunny tone; it will be useful to play it again next winter, as a reminder of this early spring warmth.

Ok well here is my rather simple noodle. Recorded very quickly and not played the best I could.
This is actually A longer version of a noodle I put up last year. Actually I made this up a few years ago for a girl I was seeing at the time.
