satchmo Posted June 6, 2017 Share Posted June 6, 2017 I bought a Precision fretless bass back in 1978 and had the instrument modified in 1983 to extend the rosewood fingerboard up to the pickup. The extended piece was made of ebony. I was a big Dill Katz fan at the time, hence the mod. The finger board is now pretty rough and chewed up from all the years of playing so I was considering having the whole thing replaced for an ebony version that again will extend across the body to the pickup. Does anyone know if there is a luther in the west-midlands who could do this sort of work? Having just been made redundant I don't have a shed load of cash to splash, but I would like to put the old girl back in to good shape. He does lots of custom built acoustic & electric guitars too. Top bloke, really knows his stuff and nice guy to boot. I'm sure there'll be someone closer to home for you though.....
