There was a Motown tour in the early 60's that used a bus like that. They had something like 40 dates in 40 days and they had anything up to 600 miles between gigs.

Yeah, it's hard for me to understand how bands pulled off live gigs back then.

Many were more recording artists than live performers.

Plus just think about live sound technology back in the late 50s. No stage monitors, amps we're still in the infancy stage and I would imagine PAs were a joke.
