Synth bass help - suggestions

Can anyone recommend a way of approximating the synth bass sound as features on Animal Magnet's Welcome to the Monkey House (particularly noticeable in the intro and instantly recognisable). Any pedal suggestions would be appreciated

This might be worth taking a look at. It claims to cover a load of 80s/ lo-fi/ synthbass sounds

Looks interesting. I'll investigate further, thanks

Also, for less money, check out the Markbass SuperSynth and the EHX Bass Microsynth. For relative pennies the Digitech Bass Synth Wah has some very good sounds too.

Thanks

Someone had one of those at the Bass Bash and I thought it was quite good. Lots of preset sounds, so you're using what's programmed in.

I have a Boss one which I am struggling with; it seems to only like long slow notes, but I've got a Minitaur for that!

The Behringer BSY600 stomp gets some surprisingly good reviews too.
Having said that, I was most amused by one of the reviewers on Amazon who gave it one star simply because, by his own admission, he was too lazy to work out how to use it properly!

I had the MarkBass SS for a while....some great sounds to be had. Main problem I had is that it doesn't latch and the sound dies when the note decays below a certain level. I'm not sure if that was fixable if you dug into the settings via the software? I ended up getting the Digitech which I found did a halfway decent job for a lot less cash.

You sure can fix that with controller software (it's the note on/off parameters).

You might be able to get somewhere near it with the Markbass SS... I think there might be some kind of ring modulation on the recording though, which the SS doesn't have. Cool sound though :)
