Passive 60's RI MIM Fender Jazz with Flats, tone rolled all the way back and neck pickup with a Digitech PDS2000 set for about 5ish repeats at less than a second just for that bit of ambience then it is straight into my computer hence the odd pops and stuff dotted about but you'll get the gist. ShergoldSnickers Posted July 19, 2007 Share Posted July 19, 2007 It sounds like something mechanically sounding the strings. I experimented years ago with a small motor to which a wheel was attached. The outer edge of the wheel was soft rubber and it made a similar sound when gently pressed against a string. I got lots and lots of hum from the motor though. In fact Kevin Godley and Lol Creme used a similar but professionally developed device called a 'Gizmo'. This was attached to the bridge of a guitar and small wheels could be made to 'bow' the strings by pressing down buttons. Its a long shot, but it sounds as if it ought to be something like this. Alpha-Dave Posted July 19, 2007 Share Posted July 19, 2007 I assume the delay is responsible for the 1/4 second repeats. Sounds a lot like a synth with all the attack is removed.
