Wireless Bass Systems

I use one of these;

I've seen mixed reviews about it, but I'm fairly happy with it.

I've noticed slightly less bass when using this instead of a lead, but nothing that can't be compensated for in your amp.

Also very noisy pops and clicks when switching it on and off. I always mute my amp when turning on and off

Other than that I'm happy with it. It's not let me down, touch wood

Before you spend your hard earned, I'd suggest there's a significant difference from the entry level budget models and just the next level up.
The practical differences are range and how robust they're made for the rigours of gigging. Of course for the purist there would be noticable sound quality differences in back to back testing, but in a live environment which is afterall the only place you'd be using a wireless setup, you can compensate for most minor differences in repsonse by tweaking your amp.
We have a selection of Sure, Sennheiser and Samsontech wireless gear in our band. All perform well enough. For my money, there are a set of equivalent models across the Sure and Sennheiser ranges for you to choose from. Mine is a Sennheiser ew 172 G2 http://www.sennheiser.co.uk/uk/icm.nsf/root/21404 it came with a decent case, so I don't destroy it as is gets thrown in and out of the car with the rest of the gear.
I'd say your best bet is to watch the forums here for some unwanted / upgraded gear on a budget... and much better value for money!!

I was looking at one of those Thomann systems but with the pack instead of the bug..............I think the pack gives a higher output and therefore would be a stronger signal.

For the money, and given Thomanns money back g'tee, a 3 year warranty AND their excellent reputation, it's not really much of a gamble.

Don't bother with the AKG Bug system it is Poo
Very flimsy all plastic construction and not that good with range or quality.

I've now got an Audio Technica 1400 series system that is superb

You get what you pay for in this case, try and buy a good used system.

Ive really got to disagree with that. I have been using a AKG Bug for well over a year now (over 70 gigs) and have never had any issues with it other than at two gigs it clashed with the DJ's system.
I also have a AKG WMS400 that i use with my other band and that has cut out on me at 5 gigs now (i had the firs tone replaced, this is the second and has done it once).
Both have good quality. ive had no complaints from sound guys and no stray RF interference.
Of course the arent pro units but certainly good enough to gig with. There is a difference in quality between them and a good lead but not enough that anyone other than me, A/Bing them would ever notice.
Personally i prefer the Bug type as it just sits on the bass and there are no leads hanging off to worry about when i take the bass off.

Each to his own.
