Paul Cooke Posted October 14, 2007 Share Posted October 14, 2007 because you can... yes, but there are practical limits to the length of the USB cable you can use... voltage drops becomes quite significant and you would not have enough voltage to drive the interface if you tried to use sensible lengths of USB cable on stage. It's all very well noodling in the bedroom with just a 1.5 meter USB cable, but you'll need at least 3 meters onstage... and do you really want a laptop onstage and all the associated latency problems in the signal chain? You can actually buy these from firebox or someone similar. Probably good fun for those who just want to muck about recording a guitar into a laptop.
