ped Posted May 26, 2007 Share Posted May 26, 2007 We saw this on Bassworld I think, it does look imressive in the video but we wondered how level the fret work would be when it is activated, the cost of a refret and issues with action - surely you would have to compromise the fretless action to overcome rattle on the fretted mode? Russ Posted May 26, 2007 Share Posted May 26, 2007 I'm surprised nobody's brought back the swappable magnetic fingerboard idea from a decade ago or so... that would have been perfect, as you could have different thicknesses of fingerboard for fretted and fretless, thus compensating for the setup change required. wizbat Posted May 27, 2007 Share Posted May 27, 2007 This all reminds me of the "funny fingerboard" ideas that were rife back in the eighties the oddest of all was probably the Bond guitars with their stepped boards, I had the pleasure of setting up a few of those things a few years back and they were quite playable after a period of getting used to them.
