You sir, have a cracking bass there!

I did a lot of gigs with that one and so did Ash.

They did actually come with a foam mute.
In reallity, almost all got consigned to the bin.

I bought a Forty, some years back and it came with all the original goodies, including the
foam, which fitted the slot perfectly.

Unless you subscribe to the "bass should be felt and not heard" brigade, can't see that it would
be of much use.

What sort of stuff do you play?

Cheers.:)

I think I have the foam mute from the one I sold. Do you have a pic of the original FlatEric?

Yep, somewhere!! :P
It is truly a case of where!!

I'm not going to start looking for it at the mo but from memory, it was either grey or
dark grey/black ish and had a peel off sticky bit, at the bottom.

Sound like yours?

Cheers. :)

The T-40 will fit into most standard cases.

In fact, there are many early ones in that type of case.

See here: http://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/peavey-t-40-and-t-60-cases.html

Scroll down to the bottom, to see the one I mean.

If you are looking for an original case, PM me - I have an unlined case (some of them were)
like the one shown.
See second image down.

Did anybody see the salesman model on eBay this week ? 0000000 serial number, think there was 6 or 8 of them built. The salesreps had them to
convince shops to stock the T series. Any way one of those memorabilia shops had T-40 and T-60,split new unplayed, perfect knick cases but the neck
needed adjusting. Probably never been touched since it left the factory early 78 :)

Asking price was $1000 an it sold for $1000. Sad eh,to think any old beat to hell Fender will sell for a damn sight more than £647.
Glad I never based my retirement plan on selling my Peaveys :)

I hope they never increase in value, the affordability is one of the things that makes them so special!

Hey all,

Here's my contribution to the T40 thread.

Yes like some of you I did consider putting it up for sale. I was entertaining some trade offers when I decided I didn't want to put it up anymore and kept it. Lucky for me I was able to get that mysterious 5/16" wrench - fyi it's the same one that is used for a Gibson Les Paul.

In any case, I introduce to you my 1979 Peavey T-40.

Very Nice - Early Toaster.

What are the first four digits of the serial number?

Cheers. :)

I have just replied to a PM from a T-40 fan and went here to look up some of the info on here and have seen that I have now had a 1000 posts!!
A mere drop in the Ocean, for many on here - but a bit of a milestone for me.

This is still one of the best (perhaps the best) places to ramble on about our chsen subject.
The sad thing is when you do go back to look at older posts, all the work from all posters, putting up images has gone west, due to the demise of the photobucket we all knew.

So, just curious - how many owners of the Old Forty do we still have on here?

Cheers. :)

Ooooo! 1001 now!!
For those of an age, that reminds me of a carpet cleaner. . . remember!!
