Just wondering if the skyline Bob Glaub's are usually lightweight. I've just pulled the trigger on one which supposedly weighs about 7.5lb, which will be the lightest P type bass I'll ever have had. Hope that weight is pretty accurate.
Mine is a US model and would estimate it at around that sort of weight. The Skylines come in a bit heavier.

Best Bass I own :) Enjoy

I remember that some of the DPLE's were on the heavy side (12lb +) so I'm glad to heat that's atypical. If it's as light as the seller says, and it sounds as good as my 50s classic I'll be delighted. Don't know if I'll ever get used to that bridge though ...

This arrived today, really nice bass. Comes in at 8lb 3oz so not as lightweight as I'd hoped, but I think it'll be a keeper. Nice quarter sawn neck as well, which I wasn't expecting. Anyway - she needs a tort guard, so who's the `go to' supplier for Lakland guards? Jeannie's?

Thanks - Roger's a nice guy on the phone (his emails were a bit curt so I was expecting the worst ...). Wish he'd figure out a cheaper way to ship to the UK though.

I played a BG for the first time last night and I MUST have one...damn you Greene King :) - a sublime instrument. Yeh BB, Roger comes across a 'bit short' in his posts doesn't he? A nice bloke though, I rang him to order mine and was one for about 40 mins - I daren't look at the phone bill.

I ordered two from him to save on postage but I got stung £15 customs charges.

So to sum up...

Phone call £15
2 pickguards £35
Postage £7
Customs charges £15

Priceless.

Don't ever try a Duck Dunn with a Dark Star - you will regret it.

Pretty disappointed with Jeannies ...

Got the new red tort yesterday for my BG. Had a look at it and was surprised how poorly finished the edges were, where bits has broken off. For an $85 guard I thought the quality would have been better. Oh well, not worth the effort returning. Tried to fit it today only to find out that it's quite a bit different to the stock guard. The holes pretty much line up (bar one which is a bit off) - or at least they will if I file a bit of guard of next to the neck, but the PUP cut out is about 2-3mm off from the original. So, I can either move the PUP (but I do prefer it to be under the strings!) or end up with a large gap if I file out the hole. I was going to buy a few more guards if this one was OK but I think I'll try pickguardian instead. Or maybe try making one myself.
Hmmm, bit of a disappointment, I was looking to add a nice black pg from Jeannies for my DJ5
Mart- might be a long shot, but I sold my DJ5 to Hammer (Ian) with 3 pickguards- black, white and tortoise. They all fitted really well, so it maybe worth PMing him to see if he doesn't use the black one.
