1.
I think we can let this thread die now. Both points of view have been expressed. Minds can be made up.
Agreed.
 2.
For whatever reason (and there could be many business reasons), Shaun doesn't stock accessories. He openly told you this, and gave you lead times that he feels are realistic. And you think this warrants slagging him on a public forum? I don't get it.
I'd be interested to know which part of the original message counts as "Slagging him" And no, you don't get it.
 3. Shaun, I do not intend to participate in an online argument. However, I stand by my original message and do not feel the need to defend it. People can read both our points of view and make their own decision. Obviously, you will not going to agree with me, but I draw your attention to: "im a bassist not a salesman" You have on online business selling goods to the public - perhaps you should become one? "if trying to more accessable what i think are the best cabs around at the cheapest prices available are not enough to win other bassists hearts and minds then its a losing battle anyway" In today's highly competitive market, you will succeed by providing better service than your competitors. That does not necessarily mean having the lowest prices. Schroeder cabinets are not budget items and prospective purchasers already know what they are buying. Good service is what will do it. "we dont stock covers or dollys but i can order them for you as a separate order later when we place our next order with schroeder. There may be a two or three month wait as it'll be a little while before we place the order and shipping can take a few weeks from the states." I contacted Jorg directly, received a reply the same day and all of the items are now at my local ParcelForce depot waiting for me to pick them up. What more is there to say?
 4. I usually try to learn songs with out using open strings, but sometimes they are necessary. Try playing Hysteria without using open strings. I can be done, but why make life difficult. We do a couple of songs that require the use of open strings and when our singer decided to raise the key, I bought a capo. Works beautifully
 5. I am a long-term 4-string player, but I am curious about the 5-string world. My only 5-string experience was with a Yamaha TRBII 5 and I found the neck way too wide for me. I guess I am asking which 5-string has the narrowest neck? Ideally, no wider that a 4-string neck - I don't mind the string spacing being very close. What should I be looking at? Does it exist?
 6.
Has anyone ordered direct from the States? With a 1212 costing about $800 but over £700, I can't help wondering if it would be bargainous to get one shipped in...
I ordered a 1210R directly from Jorg Schroeder. When you add the shipping and import duties It works out about the same as ordering from SHX.

 8.
I have the bass pod xt & short board, now is it really worth me buying the xt live & selling off my pod & shortboard? Been thinking about it as it would save me a bit of space. Are there any limitations with the XT live??
I have a Bass Pod XT Live and I may be interested in a trade if you decide to switch.
 9.
been reading this thread with interest - could I ask any schroeder users what are these cabs like as personal monitors - I currently have an epifani ul310 which is a really great sounding cab but the problem I find is that in a lot of venues where space on stage is at a premium and i am DI'ing through a PA the sound from the epi shoots past me at about knee level and it is sometimes difficult to hear myself play. Does the schroeder cab with an angled speaker overcome this - can you hear yourself clearly stood right in front of the cab? be grateful for opinions - thanks
I had the same reservations myself. I used to lug around an Ashdown 410 in a flight case - the only reason for the flight case was so that I could stand the cab on it and have the speakers at ear level. Happily, those days are gone forever as I have no problem at all hearing the Schroeder. Although the cab is blasting away at the back of my knees, you can hear every note you play. My main problem now is trying to ignore my bandmates who keep telling me to turn down

 11.
..or buy my 410R for a very reasonable price http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=3744
I bought niceguyhomer's Schroeder 410R and I used it today for the first time at a gig. We were booked to do an afternoon gig at a pub we play at regularly and I took the Schroeder with me. When I arrived, the landlady said that as it was such a nice day, we would be playing outside in the garden. I was more than a little apprehensive and would have dashed home to pick up the 810 Warwick that I normally use for outdoor gigs, but as I didn't have time, I had no alternative other than give the Schroeder a try. Even though I had read all of the reviews on Schroeder cabs and knew that they were real performers, I was still a little skeptical. Five seconds into our first song my skepticism was gone and I was completely gobsmacked. Our singer's partner, also a bass player, was out front and when I looked at him he was just smiling and giving me the "F***ing awsome" look. I would never have believed that such a small enclosure was capable of producing a sound so loud and clear - you hear every note you play. As does the audience and every member of the band, which means that they hear every bum note as well. I think these cabs will either improve your playing accuracy or get you fired from your band! I am really looking forward to putting the Schroeder through its paces at an indoor gig, especially the ones with lousy acoustics.

 13. Welcome to the world of bass.
 14. If anyone is at a loose end this evening, our band will be closing the festival at the Aviator pub in Carterton, Oxfordshire. On stage around 8:30ish. If anyone can make it, be sure to say hi. Chris.
