1. what if i have a MIA P bass with a MIJ J neck?
 2.
I have to say the the whole stock of basses..which numbered around 50 or so ..was pretty poor in the set-up and I struggled to find ANY bass that was worth playing. If I was Sadowsky, I was would be very unhappy about letting basses out to a shop like this..as the set-up was poor and the display non-discript. I am pretty sure that NYC's would be way better.. they would have to be..
i'm not sure one can blame Sadowsky for how the bass is set up once it's put out for display at a shop. who knows how it has been affected by shipping, temp, etc. that's on the store to have a playable, sellable instrument. shame on them for not taking a few minutes to set it up properly. there used to be a shop around here notorious for having the worst setup instruments around. we all knew it was the shop and not the instrumen maker. the Sadowskys at the showroom were perfect. (with an assortment of amps to run through that made me drool.)
 3.
Wow. If the NYC models are THAT much better, I'm apprehensive to try one - I got enough GAS for a Metro!
i wouldn't say that they were THAT much better. on the day i played both, my hands preferred the feel of the NYCs. i'd spend the money for a NYC, I wouldn't for a Metro. that said, i'd really have to LOVE a bass to put down that much for one. i'd be more inclined to buy an old Fender for the money.
 4. on a recent trip to NYC,i went to the Sadowsky showroom/shop and played a bunch of their NYC models (including the Will Lee which incited serious GAS -mygawd what a great bass). then went downtown and played some Metros. i felt there was a quality difference. the Metros didn't stand up to the NYCs. they were fine basses for high-end Fender clones, and they sounded like a Sadowsky, and why wouldn't they, but the feel was off. the necks felt generic. (maybe it's because i'm not a fan of flat finish necks). and the attention to detail in the feel was off . if I'm going to have a Sadowsky I'll spend the extra $$, special order exactly what i want, and I'll get a NYC.
 5.
Only of interest if you spend a lot of time up the dusty end, soloing and such. If you spend your time nearer the nut (like me) then it's irrelevant whether a bass has 21 or 24 frets. The number of strings is irrelevant too. All IMHO of course - others may think differently.
HJ is correct. i have 21 frets and only had need to go 'up there' once. the old prog band did one tune in which i had need of that high E. and only once at that. and i eventually stopped going up and went down instead, which sounded better.
 6.
The Daily Mail added it was "disgusting" and "shamed the nation"
there was a blurb in the papers over here about it. took me a second to realize it was HappyJack "MPs call for West London investigation" we've all been there. our little pop combo is good for at least one Level 1 clam per member per gig. one never knows when, where or how, but we all know it's coming. we've hit a few Level 2s and 3s, but never a Level 4. the train might be tipped and riding on one rail but we keep going. we have a particular habit of royally screwing up one of the singers tunes. almost every time. last gig we played it right. and the singer screwed up the second verse.
 7.
Delighted you could both make it - we rated that as one of the most 'fun' gigs we've ever played. Simon, don't think of it as being late, more as managing to avoid the biggest and most conspicuous cockup I've ever committed live on stage.
do tell.
 8. i seem to remember reading an interview where Thunes had all but retired/stopped playing. good to see him back. he's a hell of a player. personally, i don't have a lot of interest in seeing ZPZ. i saw FZ himself, going back to the Roxy band, and then 10 times after that.
 9.
Paired with its brother the HT210 its an utterly killer little stack. The HT210 is even heavier than the HT115, its a real workout getting the stack to a gig (you can see the pair of them at the SE Bass Bash if you're coming along), but it just sound so gooood....
my back rebels at the mere thought. moving the 115 is borderline more than i care to do. that was the entire point of buying the 2 1x12s. tho for one gig a few years back when we were playing a fairly large room, i took all three cabs out (powered by a GenzBenz BGE600). was like a Berg 322 on the 'roids. immense tone. and unfortunately i won't be attending the SE Bass Bash.
 10.
A bypassable tweeter would be nice...
one can turn the tweeter down.
 11.
Interesting.. What Berg 12s have you been running? HT, HT-ER or AE?
an HT and an EX (with horn and without) the 115 is a discontinued model i picked up used. i used to have Eden cabs, a 2x10 and a 1x18. talk about a massive bottom...
 12. i took out the Berg 15 for the gig last night (powered by the iAmp500) had been gigging regularly with 2 Berg 1x12s, mainly because of ease of transport. the 15 is the practice space amp because... the 15 is a beast. 60lbs of beast. but. it sounded fantastic. big huge round bottom end. the 1x12s just can't do it the same way. i'm a convert. the 15 it is from here on out.
 13. it went well. our first show in 6 months. good crowd. we kicked ass.
