Total Watts

1. Maiden - Running Free. Though my first bass was a headless Steinberg which didn't really suit the image... well it was the 80s.
2. My P bass came with a moulded case, it seems srutdy enough, trouble I find is the lack of space for other bits. I have to take the strap off which I know seems trivial but it's a bug bear with a locking strap, then you can only really get one lead in.
3. Brum is cr*p now for bassists, PMT are friendly enough and have some decent stuff in but not an extensive range (couple of Mesa and MB), Soundcontrol range is a joke and fairdeal??> the only thinhg I've ever bought from there is a strap. If you're after an Ashdown and a Fender you're okay, for anything else forget Brum.
4. If you're doing loads of leads and the like this is a useful bit of kit: http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?Module...=17m10#overview saves trying to hold four things at once and burning your fingers as the connectors heat up!
5. I was looking for one last year and Roland said they've discontinued them, however at the time they said I may be able to get one from a company Jenart Design. I got in touch with them and they qouted for two - one 10mm thick and one 5mm thick. In the end I never ordered one as I stopped using my GT6 so I can't vouch for the case but I've still got their details if you want to check them out.
6. Started as vocalist in a band at school, halfway through first song they told me to shut up... as there were already loads of guitarists I picked up bass and not looked back since. I started learning guitar about 5 years after I picked up bass as I was sick of the guitarist refering to chords and I hadn't a clue what notes they consisted of.
7. Used to play in an originals but got sick and tired of practicing all hours to end up playing to ten people on a damp Tuesday evening. So now play in a covers, so what if it's other peoples stuff, we do the songs we like to listen to anyway, get paid for it and practice and gig when we feel like it. Though where we play theres band on four nights of the week and there is a marked diference between 'covers bands', I think some like the idea of playing but need to go back to the bedroom for a few more years.
8. Yup, spilt one on top of my storage heater and took the paint clean off. Need to be careful with the car ones as well (the clip on ones for the air vents) as they can melt the plastic, newer cars are tested for them but older ones weren't.
9. Got booked for a do once, turned out to be a Masons do celebrating a blokes 95th birthday. Our opener was Song 2...didn't go down too well. Band I know get all the girls in the audience up to sing Brown Eyed Girl, sums it up really.
10. Just seems to drop a shed load of volume on mine. I just use it as a lazy way of controling my level when swapping between finger and pick, but thats' my poor technique.

Single or Multi

Agree with GT6 sentiments, great bit of kit but I just haven't the time to sit down and get the most out of it, plus it's far too fiddly. Live I usually end up using just a Boss limiter, in hindsight should have just bought a flanger and overdrive for what I need.
12. Agree with the comments on the Birmingham SC, used to have a decent selection but over last two or three years it's just the run of the mill stuff, though I prefered it when it was dark and dindgy back in the Musical Exchanges days. PMT seem to have improved lately but Brums never had a decent selection since Bass Centre closed.
13. Just like to say hello to everyone, nice to see a site dedicated to the 4 (or more) stringed players no just the twiddly egomaniacs. Good to nose through and pick up tips on techniques, gear and the like. Been playing now for longer than I haven't which makes me feel a tad old, still learning and still no good but hey ho I'll keep practicing. Gear wise I've a Warwick 4 string thumb that I picked up for a bargain back in '90, uncle knew a bloke who at the time owned a music shop so was lucky, I don't play it live as much as it deserves but one of those things all being well I'll keep forever. 5 string Streamer which I'm still getting used to, tried playing it live a few times but always end up hitting the wrong string, suppose whould concentrate more on paying and not supping beer. Most recent purchase is a US Precision which I love, completely diferent feel to the thumb. Amp wise I had a Trace 2x10 combo for years which was great but it weighed more than Brazil, lugging it up and down two flights of stairs after gigging killed me so had to say bye bye to it. Picked up an EBS 350 with Neo 1x10 and Neo 1x12 which for their size are an amazing bit of kit, just looking at a Neo 4x10 as moved so got a bit more space. Plus picked up a Boss GT6B which to be honest never spent enough time getting the most out of it, just end up using it for a bit of chorus or compression but so happy with the natural sound I don't plug it in half the time. Anyway, enough babble, better do some work. Cheers, Paul
