1.
What if you don't like that favourite bass when the frets are gone? There's too much chance of this ending in regrets for my liking. If I were you I'd buy a cheap bass and convert that, or find a cheap fretless.
As I said before a Squier as my main bass is not an option, rather have a squier just for some slap stuff. Is there any chance a great JB such as mine become dull by changing it into fretless?
 2.
If I was doing it to a roadworn, I'd pay a pro. Or as suggested, buy a fretless neck.
If I'm doing it I'm paying a pro for the job
 3.
I would try and get a second hand fretless neck rather than defretting as you can always switch it back if you wanted to sell it on. Get the Squire as planned or why not get a fretless Squire?
Been there, and not good enough for me when compared to my road worn...
 4. Hey mates! Any of you ever turned a fretted fender JB into a fretless? I'm very tempted to have a good fretless jazz bass as my main bass, since I have no money to buy a decent one I'm thinking of turning my main bass (fender road worn fiesta red) into a fretless and buy a squier to have a slap bass when needed. Any thoughts? Cheers from portugal, João
 5. So no one upgraded a jazz bass with fender pure vintage 64 pu's?
 6. Actually I'm very very curious abut the new pure vintage 64 pu's, they look like the natural upgrade to the vintage alnicos, does anyone have tried those?
 7.
I have a RW Jazz in sunburst, and I keep telling everyone that it's my favourite bass ever It's just so well balanced, so comfortable to play and the neck profile is the most comfortable I've ever played I also love the sound - but I did change the pickups, purely because someone local was selling a pair of DiMarzio Jazz pickups and I fancied experimenting. Originally, the bass sounded great, but maybe a tad quiet, in comparison to another jazz I had The DiMarzio's certainly gave me a bigger output, which has more "punch" than the original pickups. Sometimes, I think the bass now sounds more like a PJ. And maybe it has lost just a bit of the softer Jazz tone. I may swap them back again - just for comparison. The original pickups certainly sound like vintage Fender to me Great bass, and another convert I must say, I've owned 2 US Fenders, and my RW knocked spots off them both (I've since sold both US basses, but I'm never parting with the RW, unless I get a Bass Centre Norman Watt-Roy Jazz, and maybe not even then!) EDIT: As Rumple points out - the reverse tuners are sometimes an annoyance, but the bass seems to hold tune really well So I think I'll leave mine alone
Thanks a lot mate! Well, if one day you do a sound sample with both pickups I would be delighted to listen to it...
I replaced the pickguard on mine for a mint one. The only thing I'd do to change the bass if money were no object is replace the reverse tuners, not a major problem they are just a bit annoying.
The tuners are the one thing I would never change!
I know someone who had a RW Precision and upgraded to Seymour Duncan SPB-1 saying it was an improvement.
Actually I'm considering a gold one to change sometimes
 8.
This. If it ain't broke, fling it from an upstairs window, that should do it.
HAHAHAHAHAAH, That was a good one, guys, I really know what you mean and at the bottom line I totally agree, I'm just curious to know if anyone here has the exact same bass with upgrades, for example the pickups are very good but could be that the new fender vintage 62 are even better than the ones I have?
 9. Hi mates, I just bought recently an amazing jazz bass road worn Fiesta red, Im totally in love with the bass... I just would like to know of anyone here has one of these bass and made any kind of upgrades, for example changing the pickups. Cheers!
 10. I just bought a squier JV MIJ jazz bass to this friend here and I must say he's one trustable seller and very worried about the quality of the delivery. You can trust him blindfolded!
 11. Thanks to everyone. Thing is, I know the price of these basses all around the world but I won't ask 1000 euros for a refinished bass. I just want to know how cheaper it is because of the refinishing. 300 euros is unreal, but I think something around 600/800 euros would be right, or am I wrong?
