Total Watts

  1. i generally put a shirt on n try n look reasonably tidy, compared to the rest of the band i still look the human equivalent of a tatty old wheelie bin in a wedding dress shop window
  2. Just landed a gig standing in for someone else at appleby beer & blues festival with set in stone think were playing the 14th, anything with beer in the title gonna be fun also there jam nights at the black swan every month in raventonedale and the ravenstonedale music festival on the 7th 8th n 9th tho i ain't playing but if your oop ere in cumbria tis worth coming to, about 15 mins from j38 off the m6 towards kirkby stephen
  3. i'm planning to defret mine soon
  4. Well just taken delivery of one of these, i was after a backup bass/project bass so wanted something pretty cheap so was having a look on the bay and found this going cheap, £215 new to be precise, anyhow i wasn't expecting something to great from when it got here. I can safely say i was pleasantly surprised when i opened the box. first thing i noticed was it ways a ton and the neck is mahoosive although i suppose i'm used to my slim necked Ibanez, the only dissapointment was that the outer ring on the stacked knob was loose and there was a scratch on the back, nowt major tho and i plan to refinish it anyhow. Finish wise apart from the scratch its a1 almost seems a shame to sand it all off when refinish it, its well made much better than the basses i tried in the same price range, the hardware is decent stuff by the looks of things, the bridge is a nice chunky job a fair bit better than the standard fender bridge the tuners have a nice feel to them and all the knobs have a nice smooth action. playabilty side of things even tho the neck is quite chunky compared to what i'm used to its easy to get around and comfortable and it didn't need much setting up to get a nice low action with no buzz, the low b is a smidge on the flappy side but its not to bad for a 34inch scale bass, the rest have a nice tight feel. its really easy to slap it seems to have wide string spacing more like a 4 string than the 5 strings i'm used to sound wise, its got a really nice slap tone its got a little switch on the preamp for slap witch to my ear seems a waste of time it has a fuller tone left as it is, finger style its got a nice warm sound although the low b sounds a bit weak compared the b on my ibanez, i think this is down to the pickups as they dont seem to have much output and it lacks a little volume for an active bass, the preamp does a good job but nothing that blows your socks off i found the sound i wanted pretty quick though. i'd say its an allround good bass and for the money i paid its great, it doesn't feel like a cheap bass and there's no neck dive unlike other cheap 5 strings i've had before now, its comfortable to play it sounds good though lacking a bit of volume. so if your looking for a cheap 5 string try one of these out
  5. pheonix 5 or maybe an array nt 5
  6. ta just had a quick look on ebay, think i'll hold out till the one i want turns up there
  7. hi all, was wondering if anyone knows where i can get meself a traben, i had one a while back, pheonix 4 in blood red really wish i hadn't sold it, i spotted um on thomann a while ago but they seem to have dissapeared from there, anyone know where i can get one ?
  8. £250 ? anyone, had all the electrics checked out and there fine apparently
  9. i'm only intrested in 5 strings tbh mate, specifically ibanez, ta for the offer tho
  10. yer seems to have aged quite nicely i think it was about 3 years ago when i put it together and i'd had the neck a while then, the necks quite chunky the sounds you can get out of the emg's is quite amazing i prefer um to the seymour duncan ones i had in previously, i've got a badass 2 and a gotoh bridge knocking about somewhere for this, just when i put the emg's in it sounded far too bright for my liking with the badass so on went the old un, i'll through um in with the bass seeing as i ain't gonna use um, the badass 2 is black tho
  11. could do with a clean lookin at them pics, out with the cloth
  12. i'd be happy around the 300 quid mark, more pics close ups of the headstock the chip
