I sold my MusicMan SUB Sterling four-string.. and boy do I regret it now. I have a five-string and a six-string and I just think sometimes it would've been a good idea to keep a four-string.. It was really great. ._. Edit: Here's the best pic I could find.. it's from a gig about four or five years ago!

Try to find a second hand MusicMan SUB (Stingray or Sterling, doesn't matter, they're both brilliant) or Squier/Fender Jazz. You might be able to find those on that budget.

Hi everybody! My name's Nick and I've got myself a bass covers YouTube channel. I've been on it a little over a year now. I used to have a Warwick! It was a passive five-string Corvette Standard, and it was loooovely. One of the nicest basses I've owned. Low-ish price, but pretty high-end in terms of quality, feel and tone. However.. Something strange started happening to the B string though, I don't really know what it was, but it just felt completely dead. I don't mean the strings just needed changing, it was something more than that.. really hard to explain without sounding mental so I'll just stop there! Apart from that, it was a brilliant bass! Slightly off topic now, but I'm thinking of getting a new amp because my smallish Ashdown (though I love it) just isn't really loud enough for the bigger gigs. I'm definitely going to get a big Warwick cab (back on topic) but I'm not sure about the head just yet. The cabs are all brilliant though. Lovely and crisp.

The nicest fretless bass I've ever played on was a Marleaux Consat custom 6 string. I would've bought it right there and then.... ....but unfortunately I didn't have £2500 in my pocket, or indeed my bank. xD I plan on getting a fretless bass in the future sometime though, I think it's a really good way to expand your skill. :]

Listening to Stephen Fry teach me facts of the world on Q.I. I feel enlightened.

My advice for people buying their first bass would be: - Don't buy something superduper expensive. My first bass was like £80 or something. I was only 11 so I got a 3/4 scale Squier Bronco.. I still have it actually! Looks like a ukelele now.. haha! - Buy a simple bass that doesn't have amazing action because playing on something that's harder to play improves strength and helps later in your playing life. That second one might seem a bit weird.. I dunno. That's what I think now I look back. It wasn't a conscious decision at the time to get a rubbish bass for my first one, but I think it helped now that I look back. Hope this helps!

Wow, some of you guys have LOTS of basses! I just have a 1992 Yamaha TRB 5P, and a 2008ish Yamaha TRB1006 I love 'em to bits! :]

I've never been to a Bass Day, but a good friend of mine called Gary went this year, and met Stu Hamm! I'm very jealous. I might go with him next year. :]
