Yes, that's what I think as well, mate ! Everything covered, and ready for all situations. A P-sounding bass could be a good thing, but I can actually get a pretty good P sound if I play on the neck pickup of my Leduc and my Hollowbody Modulus.
As for your question regarding the fretless... Actually, I've nearly always played on sixers...
I've been playing for... nearly 12 years now, and I've played sixers since my 2nd year of bass playing. That's why I chose a 6 as a fretless bass. However, the only 34' inch scale basses I have are the Warwick and the fretless. The Leduc is 34.5", and the 2 Modulus are in 35". That's why it's a bit of a hassle to play the fretless these days... I'm thinking of having it fretted and have the "Dominique Di Piazza" bridge installed on it, but I don't want to alter it's MAGNIFICENT fingerboard.
