  1. Hey guys. Thanks for all the opinions. I have used a TC D2 a few times, normaly when im at FOH on vocals. I am impressed with TC and there interface seems really user friendly so thats why i considered the GM2. Thanks for the heads up on other gear! Im glad there are people out there that are using them on bass. And gettin pleasing results from them. You see im no longer looking for a multi FX pedal. I have the AX3000B and it just seems that the quality of effects has been sacrificed to squeeze more into the box. And there are many that i just dont use. So im hoping to cut back on the effects but increase the quality. The GM2 has some compression on board doesn't it? Is it any good? As im lookin at getting maybe a dbx-160. But if the GM2's on board compression is any good it might save me some money
  2. Hi there guys and girls of bass chat. A little help please. Im wanting to upgrade my effects unit. And the G Majour 2 has caught my eye. All i really want is Reverb and Delay unit, although i do like the idea of the pitch shifter. Anyways, ive seen many guitar demos online of this unit but no bass demos. So i was wondering if anyone out there has one and is using it on their bass, if so how are you finding it? Also if anyone has any other similar suggestions feel free to to podt your opinions.   3. Rite, I'm using Mr. Sheen multi purpose furniture polish on the body, and im going to try WD 40 on the fret board. Il let you know how it all pans out. Cheers people for all your help =]

Has anyone had much experience with composite fret boards? I must admit, im swinging toward a small application of WD 40 on the board. I just want to be sure first!

  7. Hi People. Just a few quick questions. I've recently had a bass built, which has a composite fretboard, and i have no idea what would be the best treatment to clean it with? Im also wondering what the best cloth and treatment is best to use on the lacquered body, just to keep it looking as pristine as possible for as long as possible. And avoiding scratches! Once a few adjustments have been made to the bass, il be adding it to the build diaries section on this site. Any help is much appreciated. Cheers. Joe - (Dingo)

Although, i think stereotypically, bassists are the mad ones in the band, apart from some lead guitarists. lol

So when a customer 1st comes to you, and there talking about a particular sound or tone, im guessing they describe what they'd like the bass to sound like, and you'd explain to them, the choices available to them in terms of woods, and the possibility of a thru neck? I have the basic understanding that, harder woods have a brighter tone, and that thru necks transmit vibrations to the bridge better, but thats about it really. Can you help? Cheers!

Dan PS I'm sorry if you found that patronising, but I'm a teacher who does his best to help his students get the best marks possible.[/quote] Yea im focusing this project on 5 woods, and some differences between a thru neck and a bolt on neck bass. So far ive acquired these woods and recorded the tones of them, using a contact mic into the computer, so the user can click on the 'wood' and hear the sound back, ive used a pen to tap the woods to get there 'sound'. I know it isnt ideal, but at least it will give the user an idea of the characteristics of the wood. In terms of a question, the criteria for my study, is very basic and vague. The only criteria i have to meet are, for the assignment to be informative, easy to navigate, and for the main focus to be on the sounds, as my course is a sound orientated degree. and thats about it.
