1. Afternoon all, been off the BC scene for a while but I'm reviving this thread due to a need to move this on (rather than make a new thread- no change in the key info here, the Subby has been cased-up for a couple of months now and in my 'gear I no longer use' cupboard!). New lower price though, I'll take £350 ono- drop me a message. Cheers all!
2. Overdue bump... This has got to go, offers more than welcome!
3. Bump n' grind... make me an offer?
4. Photees! 5. Bump for the imminent arrival of photos- sorry it's taken so long! Will also listen to offers on this bass, of course. Jack
6. I've been deliberating this one for a while, but the time has come to let this go, I feel. To put it simply, I am not using this bass anywhere near as enough as I should/like, as I tend to turn to my 4 strings for gigs/rehearsals/recording so this just sits on a stand in my room. I would absolutely love to keep hold of this, as I think its value will improve with age being a USA-made MusicMan etc, but my unexpectedly dire financial situation with over 4 weeks until payday dictates otherwise. Therefore, I need to stop hoarding this for my own personal satisfaction and do something sensible by paying some bills. Hopefully it can go to a good home where somebody will get the enjoyment out of it that this instruments deserves. I am the third owner of this instrument: I bought it from my old band's synth player, who in turn bought it from a mate of his who purchased it Stateside. As such, the cosmetic condition reflects this, with a couple of dings and scrapes on the finish- on the lower reverse edge of the body close to the battery compartment; on the 'tip' of the headstock (see forthcoming pics for a clearer idea). There is also a bit of a 'scrape' in the black paint-finished neck up behind the 12th fret that's about an inch in length. These dings were present when I bought the instrument, and since I purchased it about a year and a half ago, it's never been out of my house. The frets and hardware are all in great condition with one exception- the tuning peg for the G string, on the underside of the headstock, is loose in its fixture. I have remedied this by tying an elastic hair bobble tightly around it to stop it rattling around annoyingly when I play that string, which seems to do the trick. That said, the 4 other machine heads/tuning pegs all feel rock solid if a little lightweight compared to my 'real' MM Stingray. Tuning is unaffected by this issue. This is the active, 2-band EQ (as per all SUB model instruments) version of this bass, and it is a cracker. Like I have mentioned, I'd love to keep this, but I'm bloody skint and I can't justify having 3 basses anymore! This is collection only I'm afraid, from Southport on Merseyside, but I am happy to arrange a courier for interested parties! PM me. £400 (NB the silver diamond plate scratchplate IS included- I just think it looks so much better without it!) PICS TO FOLLOW!
7. Thanks lads. BigRed, it's download only at this stage, but we do have physical promotional cd's for radio stations/DJs etc so I could post you on of those if you like? I agree Si, the original is naff personified. I wasn't keen on the idea at first but the original chorus had a really good melody that we all liked so we thought it'd be worth a shot!
8. Classic, of course, in the loosest sense of the word- but a nice little nod to Mr Ricky Gervais and his long-forgotten 'masterpiece' Bitter Heart, which he recorded in 1983 as part of new romantic duo Seona Dancing. Have a look/listen and let me know what you think- we've had a bit of a play around with the arrangement and we think it sounds much better. The idea behind the video was to take the bare bones of the original video and make something that references it subtly, but takes it in a different direction. The guys who did the video, Rotted Grape Productions, also did the Dresden video for Fibua- Basschat's very own Wooks79 of course. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmGrT28D0NE The single is out on August 6th (but available to pre-order) via: http://www.hmvdigital.com/artist/super-8-cynics/bitter-heart http://www.7digital.com/artist/super-8-cynics/release/bitter-heart http://bit.ly/LMymiA Cheers!
9.
I haven't got "Tales from the beach" (so will buy it). All the albums are really good but my faves are "Positivity", "Tribes, Vibes & Scribes" and "JazzFunk" (which sounds very "of it's era"/dated, but is great)
+1, 'Positivity' is great. 'Inversions' is one of favourite tracks from that album. 'Jazz-Funk' is great but isn't too different from anything else that was around at that time Brit Funk/Jazz-Funk wize, i.e. Light of the World, Freeez etc (understandably seeing as Bluey was involved in a lot of it!).
10. 'Rivers on the Sun' is a brilliant track, love the old school vibe to it with the 'drone note' vocal bit (sorry, I can't find a YT vid to show you!). The whole album is really strong.
11. Bought the album off iTunes as I had some leftover cash on there I needed to use up. It's fantastic, really recommend it. There's a few tracks on there that actually shout back to 'Jazz-Funk', and of course the bass playing is brilliant throughout. That Mo Brandis has a great voice.
12. This is fantastic, lovely chorus. Thanks for posting, Bub!
13.
I've always pronounced Aria and D'Addario the Italian way ("arry-er" and "daddario") and been perfectly understood...
I've always pronounced D'addario that way too, 'Dee-Addario', however, makes it sound like that long-forgotten sports make nobody dares to wear anymore- Diadora!
