1. Thanks for chiming in @Osiris. Perhaps I didn’t explain my thoughts very well, but I don’t “have” to have a valve. I just love the valve sound. Always have. So my uneducated mind thinks, “Valves good. Compression with valves? Probably good.” That said, I know the Teletronix unit I mentioned earlier doesn’t have any valves in it. So valves aren’t a must. I’m after something simple, warm and with a sense of quality about the tone/build. If I have a gazillion knobs to twiddle, I’ll get overwhelmed and won’t get the most out of the pedal.
2. Thanks for the input gang — much appreciated. This is interesting. A "mellow warmth" is definitely what I'm going for here. And that's a generous offer. I'm in Retford, north Nottinghamshire.
3. Oi oi gang — I'm thinking about diving into the world of compression for the first time. Could do with some input please. This'll be for playing at home. Cleaning up signal for effects (octaver, overdrive, low-pass filter). Some light studio use. No need for a touring machine. I LOVE valves. Something about the warmth of them — they light me up. With that in mind, I'm curious about these two compressors: Effectrode PC-2A (which has valves in, I believe) Teletronix LA-2A Can anyone describe what I might expect from each of these bad boys? Or how they might compare, please? I'm pretty dense when it comes to this stuff. But I'm learning, slowly. So please, go easy on me — I'm not Einstein. Ha. Fire away, basschatters...

5. Hey gang — I’m getting back into playing more after about 10 years out the loop. And, well, I’m tryna’ figure out what current/newer amps are most like the Genz Benz Streamliner? Now, I know the Streamliners aren’t ancient. But, still, what’s the the newer equivalents please? The valve pre always did it for me with them. That’s the same reason I loved the Orange Tiny Terror. Nice warmth to the tone. So, yes — any suggestions on amps with a vale pre would be appreciated please.
6. Yep — I could view them when I unzipped the filed inside GDrive. (I used a plugin that GDrive recommended. Worked fine, and fast.)

8. Thanks for the interest folks. This is SOLD now.
9. Thanks for the comment pal. It's a cracker indeed it is.
10. Thanks for the kind comments chaps. I must admit, it's one of the nicest Jazz basses I've ever played, never mind owned. But, the Precision is my baby and does all that I need it to do.
11. EDIT: This is now sold. Thanks for looking. Hey, I'm selling my Fender Squier JV Series Jazz from 1984 in Olympic White. It's an absolute beauty. Sounds and plays great. But...my Precision just makes me smile that bit more every time I pick it up, and I don't need both. When I bought this, I played it alongside a number of other Jazz basses. That included some higher priced JV Series basses, and some other higher end boutique basses. This one, for me, was the out and out winner. It just has a quality, and depth of tone that's quite special I feel. Of course, you're welcome to come and find that out for yourself (I'm in Grantham, Lincs.). It doesn't have a case I'm afraid, so an in person deal would be the best option. However, I'm happy to buy a case and ship it at the buyers expense. Feel free to reach out to me to figure out all that kind of stuff. I've tried my best to accurately represent the bass in the following pics and video. It's in really good knick for a 32 year old bass, and you can definitely feel it's quality when you've got it in your hands. However, it is 32 years old, so it does have some character. Here's a video of it - https://youtu.be/Oro2YifjCO0 and there are some pics below. It's a straight sale at a fairly priced SOLD please (that's less than most others on here right now, purely because I want the cash). Any questions, please get in touch. Thanks for your time. Jamie
12.
Does anyone in London have a medium scale Maruszczyk I could try out? I'm thinking of buying the one benebass is selling but I've never played a medium scale before.
The Bass Gallery have one of the higher end Maruszczyk's in I believe. Not sure of the scale length though, sorry.
